There's always Standard Deviation lucky loos to wow us. But for most players it is Standard Devastation.

Look most people don't understand the denomination needed and amount of hands they would have to play in order to even consider turning a positive year.
Now we have the problem of the fact that there are NO high enough denoms that are 100%+ available anywhere. So in recent years these "pros" began to concentrate on progressives that are valued even at a negative rate of return.
Talk about a gamble like Florida Phil says 8 players on a great value bank prg , only one can hit. One way to curve this is to send in teams and pay them hourly. Well now you're no longer "playing " vp like most people with your own bank roll. Now the rules change. If you change the rules then you change the game..
Vp is very fun to play but 99.9% of people will at least lose..
.09 will maybe break even. The remaining.01?
I'd rather be lucky

That's if you play a lot on -EV games. My ex-fiancee will likely be a winner at VP for the rest of her life. $1000 Royal when she maybe played 1000 hands tops. And to my knowledge, she hasn't played since we broke up. I'm still waiting on a quarter royal after 15 years of sporadic quarter play. But I've only probably got a royal cycle or two in lifetime.

I couldn't disagree more.On the progressives, if 8 people play positive progressives, probably all 8 of them will be net winners over the course of a year. The fact that only one of them wins "today" is largely irrelevant. Today's score is largely luck. Your score over a year or two is far more representative of the games you play and skill level you have.I would guess between 10% and 15% of players at least break even. I can't prove that number, but it's an informed guess by someone who is in contact with many, many players, on several sites.Breaking even isn't a very high standard if you attack the game intelligently. In most jurisdictions, including Florida, casinos offer promotions sometimes where players have the edge. Limiting yourself to those gives you the edge.On this site it's far less than that who break even, of course. The misinformation spread by the site's biggest posters drives off most people who know how to play. With the good players ignoring the site, the ones who remain are not-so-good. It's easy for knowledgeable players to conclude that the biggest posters here don't have a clue about the winning process. The only way for this site to get more knowledgeable posters is for the current posters to give it a break. If they would read and listen rather than repeating their nonsense over and over again, everybody can learn something.

You're my hero bob NOT
Give it a break you guys always have the answers
Bs I know what I'm talking about but people jobs and futures depend on stupid uneducated unskilled players trying to out run an rng.
I said in my first post on this thread that i didn't want to hear from any "pros" or supposed ap's. I've heard enough from vp gods over the years. Real results over many years have left me with these facts and people deserve to know the real truth about vp that can financially destroy anyone at anytime.
I will say is that B.Dancer is one of the most intelligent people I've ever seen. That's about it.
Why don't people like the truth? Because the bs fairy tale sounds better

Certainly what I've been thinking. Play a couple of hours a pop and stay within a budget, why shouldn't you break even on the year playing a low var game like JOB at full pay? I do MCS, or Modified Cheap Strategy. Suboptimal from a rock bottom cost perspective, but I get good bang for the buck.

I am convinced luck is more important than anything in winning playing VP. On our trip to Bossier City we just got back from, our friends hit 2 handpays playing Ult X. On one they had just got on the machine playing 10 play quarter and drew 4 2's on the bottom and on the redeal pulled four kickers for $1400. On the other they were playing 5 play fifty cent and kept a pair of aces and hit 4 aces on the only line that had a 12 times multiplier for a little over $4800.
If you throw those two windfalls away they would have probably lost $3 or 4 thousand dollars. They hold A,10's and when they have a choice between holding an ACe or holding a jack and queen they hold the ace and other plays that are not statistically the most optimal holds. And it does not bother them to play 8/5 instead of 9/6 machines ( DDB is their game of choice ). Yet I have watched them get some unbelievable hits. Once while playing with them at Tahoe within 5 minutes they hit 4 aces and a royal both time holding only 1 ace.
So overall they know the basic strategy but it you watched them and you watched me, I would blow them away if you only compare which one of us makes the fewest mistakes. They win and they win consistently. I am fascinated by it, scratching my head, and wondering why.

This forum just confirms that that I am right if you do not go to the casino you will not lose. I have been in a casino once in the last 6 years. You may ask why it is because I really hate losing. Like in any and all contests on this site if I am not in first at the end of a session I consider it a complete and utter failure.
