Re: 50 machines versus 10 machines
{I may delete this before posting it because it is rather difficult for me to discuss.}
?Chalk that up to about a half a bottle of hydrocodone and fatigue. I sat down and this topic came to mind and I just started typing as though I was talking to myself. Sorry. I meant to delete that preface.

Looked at another way, if the machines are "honest", a stipulation I am not certain as to the validity of upon reading your posts, then YOU going to the casino with 100 people in it would not increase YOUR chances of hitting a Royal because there would be 100 more people there who each have an equal chance of hitting. If all 100 people went to the vacant casino, the Royals should fall at the same rate they fall at the busy casino if the machines are not biased. What I am trying to say (and not very well) is that the number of Royals hit is proportional to the number playing the game.{If there are 100 people playing in one casino and only 1 playing in another, then it is 100 times more likely that Royals will occur 100 times more often in the crowded casino than in the vacant one. But it is no more likely that any one individual in that crowded casino is going to hit more often.}
Okay then given the fact that players are leaving machines and others are moving from machine to machine and like you said it is 100 times more likely that royals will occur 100 times more often than in the less crowded casino would that not meen that you would at least have the chance to hit more where they will be occuring more often than where they are not?
By the way I like to argue even if I am wrong.

Eduardo, referring back to the second paragraph of your post of 12/1 4:59pm.
I was cruising thru the posts on vp free recently and I came upon a post that refered to a "team play" plan. Whereas 10 or more players put equal amounts into a collective bankroll pool and all go into the same casino and play their share at the same time. All winnings are pooled, and any player that hits a royal, 4 deuces, aces with, etc. are given a bonus from the pool, and the balance of the winnings are evenly distributed amongest the team.
Is this a common practice, or someones wishful thinking?
Since you kind of referred to this in the above mentioned post I thought you might know something about it . Thanks, ansoda.

I understand about typing under the influence. I'm sure the machines are honest but being a long time VP player with a nice bankroll that had only played at one casino for the last 10 years I thought I had a pretty good understanding of this game. Never really thought much about until this year in which I started giving the new casino a very large portion of my play. Before anyone ask, the reason for giving the casino the play was because they are so much closer. The problem with the 100 players idea is that the 100 players will never go to the one casino but they will go to the other everytime. I play big when I go to the casino and there are very few real players that play at this casino. The idea that lack of people playing the machines was an idea brought up by somene I know as to a possibility as to why some of my numbers were so low. Given the fact that the machines are the same and the paytables are the same the only difference anyone can point to is the huge difference in the amount of people playing the machines. Over the 10 years of play at the one casino I have seen it all as far as "wink, wink" hot and cold cycles go. Thats to say good times and bad times but never any reason for concern. I've still went to my favorite casino many times this year and have done very well once again this year. As far as the smaller casino goes I am a big fish in a small sea and while I will get the majority of the jackpots the only problem is there is not enough of them and I'm not getting my share. With the larger casino I'm still a big fish only in a larger sea where I am getting a little more than my share year after year after year.

Team play refers to a team hogging an advantage opportunity with a progressive or hogging machines in general to not let other players in, say during a promotion. It is a way to expand one's own play by teaming with others on an equal share basis.

No, I've never heard of team play but that does sound like what I meant somewhat. I don't think I would like team play mostly because
1) If I hit a royal I want to keep it all
2) I don't want to be subject to other people's mistakes
Sure you would increase your odds at getting part of a royal, but you would also decrease the payout on that. I think playing on a team with 5 people would be like moving from single line quarters to 5 line nickels. Except some of those lines might be played by someone else's strategy.
It could be fun to try just to mix things up, but in general I don't think it would suit me.

These are pros - they don't make mistakes. And, you wouldn't mind collecting on someone else's royal would you? It's just a temporary deal where a lucrative payoff exists. If the team were to hit the progressive royal they would move on to a new advantage opportunity.

For a progressive it does seem like a good plan.
But back on the original topic, people aren't sharing their winnings. So there is no mathematical advantage to playing around more people. The odds of hitting anything on the machine you are one when you are playing are no better if the room is full or you are the only one there.

Pokeherguy, I have a math problem for you that will maybe help explain and maybe you can explain how your question is different.
A sandwich company is making ham sandwiches for distribution in their restaurants. 20% of their ham sandwiches contain a special sauce that is really tasty and 10% contain another sauce that gives you food poisoning. The rest are plain with mayo, and these are all wrapped and mixed together during packaging so nobody knows one from the other.
One restaurant that is very busy stocks 10,000 sandwiches. Another restaurant orders only 100 at a time. There are about 2,000 special sandiwches and 1,000 poisoned sandiwiches at the busy restaurant. That's a lot of specials and trips to the toilet! There are only about 20 special sandwiches and 10 poisoned ones at the slow place.
If you go to the busy restaurant there are people all around you getting specials and poopers. If you decide to order one sandwich, what are your odds of getting a special one? What about a poisoned one?
What if you go to the slow restaurant and order a sandwich? What are the odds then?
Which restaurant gives you a better chance at getting special sauce and which one is more likely to land you in the john?

You sure are stubborn, Eduardo. The %'s are exactly the same no mattermatter how many any place orders or has left- 20 and 10, assuming you know nothing about updated product mix. HEY GUYS - there is no secret or brilliant strategy to defeat hard and cold statistical probability.
