There is no doubt in my mind that everything Bob says is true and that he makes a ton of money playing video poker.  I do worry that people read this and think they can do the same.  I guess I have a personal problem with gambling as anything but recreation.  I'm definitely not a moral crusader, but I do worry about such things.  I think everyone has to make those decisions for themselves.</SPAN>[/QUOTE]
I am not sure that I would assume that Bob D makes "a ton of money playing VP". If that were true, why would he teach , write books and sell stuff ?

I have no insight into anyone's financial status other than my own, but I would think that Bob goes through the same peaks and valleys that all regular VP players encounter, although perhaps at a larger dollar level than most.

BOB DANCER, you have avoided addressing my question/issue regarding so-called "horrible" paytables in places (like AC), whereby a player like myself, unable to get to las vegas on anything close to a regular basis, must wade and sift thru the awful paytables in AC to find the "LEAST Sh*tty"  if I want to play any video poker at all......What do you say to players who find themselves in markets where the paytables are pretty much all lousy?    Do you simply tell them "Dont play"?     Why dont you just come out and say that any serious Video Poker player MUST make their way to LAS VEGAS???For the last 5 years playing in AC, I have limited myself to mostly games like 8/5 Bonus Poker (99.2%)  9/6 JOB Progressives,  and a couple 9/7/5 DB machines.....I have dabbled in a few lousy 9/5 DDB PROGRESSIVE games when the jackpot reached a unusually high level....but thats it......There is no denying it....you can play the best paytables available......you can play your chosen games PERFECTLY day in and day out.....but unless you are LUCKY on a regular basis (meaning hitting a royal slightly MORE often than statistically expected, or possibly a lesser premium hand like AwaK frequently), you cannot win over the long term from a shear credits in/credits out perspective.     IF....and thats a big IF....you can marshall all your play and all your comps and all your benefits so that you are always playing where you reap the most benefit APART from the credits (i.e. Money), then perhaps you can come out ahead in the long run, but you certainly will not be "wealthy".....

I think Bob answered that question when he states he would never play a negative expectation game.   If those are the only games you have available, you can only lessen your losses or quit playing all together.  Professional players have the option of waiting until they find a game with a positive edge, we don't.

As far as luck goes, I believe it is mathematically possible for a professional player with all the right skills and games to lose long term.  A human lifetime may not be enough time to overcome really bad luck.

I am not sure I understand what you said here phil.....how exactly do professional players have the option of waiting until they find a game with a positive edge, while the rest of us supposedly do not have this option?      What I mean to ask is, since you and I are just as smart (if not smarter) than Bob Dancer or any other so-called professional VP player, we certainly could simply "wait" until we found a truly advantaged, positive expectation situation......but you and I might be waiting forever, right?    Unless we want to go to Vegas and spend more than a few days there........What I want to hear from Bob is for him to come out and say that, given today's set of circumstances in most casinos and the state of Video Poker in general, the only real possibility of finding consistently advantage play is to relocate to Las Vegas.....it just does not exist anywhere else......and even in the case of Vegas, you have to spend enough time there to scout around, as well as establish yourself to actually receive the offers that will provide the opportunity for advantage play.Bob has said himself this is not rocket science, but it does require steadfast discipline and vigilance, something that the vast majority of people are too lazy or nonchalant to apply......people like Bob are counting on this factor!     He has said himself, it is the continued "awful" play of other video poker players that allow people like him to do what they do......in other words if we all truly did what he does, pretty soon he would no longer be able to do what he does........get it????Now that I think about it.......maybe I just answered my own question.......that's why Bob does not come flat out and tell us we really need to play only in Vegas .... if there were a mass influx of advantage players into Nevada, he might find himself out of his....."job"!

DaBurglar if you are just as smart (if NOT smarter) as Bob Dancer then you certainly cannot consider yourself an advantage player. This is evidenced by your own achieved results as reported in this forum by you. Ergo; you are not as smart as Bob Dancer but you might give the nearest box of rocks a run for its money.

Just getting caught up reading the threads. If you were sitting next to me Tedlark I would have to give you a high five for that one.
