brmcc74, since you already mentioned you play correct strategy, you are going about VP the right way. The long term is kind of a meaningless term. It just means over time your results will get closer and closer to the expectation of the games you play. As long as you continue to play, it will happen. There's no way to avoid it.

 
As a result I am also very careful about the return of the games I play. I only play when I have a positive expectation, and I try to maximize that expectation. That's the second part of what is called advantage play. For example, a person can play full pay JOB perfectly, but without added incentives it is a negative expectation game. Even if you figure out how to get about .5% in extras, it's still just barely break even.
 
There's more to being a winning player than just knowing the correct strategies. In fact, I usually rate that 2nd or 3rd in importance. By far the most important is finding opportunities with a big edge. I've played with an edge of over 8% before (short promotion). Clearly, strategy is secondary in that situation.

The Skyline casino occasionally sent out coupons to people in the near vicinity paying out extra on 4RF. Since I didn't live close by I never did get a coupon. However, I saw other people collecting with them.
 
These are the little things that add up over time and can create winning situations.
