Congratulations! There is a time to be contrite and remorseful. This is not that time. I lost $400 profit with zero to show for it. That would be the time. I hope that I can attain 25% of that jackpot tomorrow. I briefly bet $25 in Harrah's Cove and was thrilled to survive. Maybe I can pull one out.

I must learn to get back to hit and run basics and never give back a 500 profit again.
I'm a wee bit confused by this. You're saying it would have been better to stick to the hit and run process rather than push on and hit a $16800 royal?

Congratulations on hitting it, but doesn't that the fact you did hit it after you "should" have stopped indicate that stopping at some arbitrary point is not necessarily a particularly sound strategy?

Diamonds are Mrs. Olds' best friend!
Hit and run is generally the preferred strategy, isolated exceptions making the rule. By this point in the session, a delusional fog sets in where you are just praying to break even. That seat must have been scalding hot until this $21 ship came in!

At 21 bucks a hand, I would have been broke in another 30 hands or so. This was just blind luck and I am thrilled, but time and time again from my own records, at least for me hit and run is the best strategy. Normally I would cut and can a clone session after a loss of 500 or so. I am still determined to get discipline in order. It failed twice in the last week. That said. That Royal does dwarf my quick hit and run strategy. Anyway, thanks for the congrats!! Can you believe I had to withhold over 1,176 bucks to cover my State taxes on this amount. That!s more than the average quarter Royal pays. Those state taxes do reduce my EV a bit. Haven’t done the exact calculations , but I believe it would be roughly 7 percent of the 2 percent or so of coin in since that is what the Royal returns over time

First world problems! I'm definitely trying a $20 hand or two tomorrow. We didn't come to break even.

Have fun, but be careful. We know the long term edge is almost always with the casino no matter what crazy ideas like mine we come up with. I must say, just as an example, I like hitting a 90 coin full house if I am betting 10 quarters. It pays for 18 losing hands at bet five. That is entirely the method behind my madness. Fewer hits at a higher bet to pay for the many losing hands at the lower bet. That is how I ended up 500 bucks on JOB earlier in the session. I was catching JOB quads about Every 45 minutes. I think all of them were at bet 8-16 quarters. I also caught a few very lucky full house flurries sometimes just a few hands apart. Other than the Royal of course, quads and full houses are the bread and butter of my madness Martingale Clone method of play.
I think in an average session not this one but an average one I run about 12,000 through a machine. In round numbers, over time, the Royals assuming they all involve a hand pay, would return 2 percent of that or 240 bucks. 7 percent of that for State tax is about 17 bucks. A reduction in EV of .0014. No amount of taxation on gross winnings is fair, but at least this is manageable over time

I really must increase BR. Of my 24 Quad/SF/RF hits this year, 14 (58%) were max. I estimate that I have lost $4,000 in potential hits. I may have a huge blow out session just to gauge how much better or worse I could be doing. We both hit RFs this month, yours being 22 times mine. I can do a bit more max betting to finally cash in on my premium hands. It's been a fairly forgiving VP year, and I am near term bullish.
