A new record??
I just completed a series of 2520 hands before hitting a quad.
The game was 9/6 double bonus. Various casino and various machines.
Is this a new record for futility??

That's pretty bad. It's no fun when this happens. This looks like a loss of 2500 to 2600 coins on this type of machine. I'm sure that some of the regular players have experienced worst streaks...but not that often. It sort of depends on how often one plays.The odds of playing 9/6 DB (with machine precision, one hand at a time) for 2520 hands with no quads are 393 to 1. If you played once a month, this occurs about once every 33 years. If you played once a week, you would expect this about once every 7 and a half years! But if you played daily, you would see it about once every 13 months.I'm going to guess that you also had no straight flushes and certainly no royal flushes or you wouldn't be lamenting your luck in this post.The odds of playing 9/6 DB (with machine precision, one hand at a time) for 2520 hands with no quads, straight flushes, or royals are 551 to 1.

Yeah, it does happen. My worst streak was around 3000 hands. Playing Deuces I went around 13 cycles between wild royals (cycle varies in different games but it's usually between 500-600 hands). Also, playing quick quads I went around 2500 hands with no quads or quick quads on this site. It was around 18 cycles.
To put it in perspective 2520 hands is around 6 cycles.

VP and shadow. Thanks for the input.
I do play almost daily and for about a year now so I guess I was due.
I will be prepared to accept it if it happens again.{Hope not}

SM and New2vp posted some good numbers on this while I was checking on it, but I'll go ahead and post mine anyway. In my real play, 0.26% of my "nice hits" (quads/SF/RF) take longer than 2,500 hands. That's about 1 out of every 400. That's for all games I play, not just DDB. I also have a sim I wrote that plays out hands, and running that gave me a rate of 1 out of every 500 (0.20%) that take that long to hit.
My own personal best (um, worst) is a dry spell of just over 4,500 hands. We've had a discussion or two on this subject and I think someone mentioned a gaming trip with only one quad over several days of play. Ouch.

I hope I never see one that long again, but as I said in my previous post others have had spells worse than that.
I get most of my play in here in Colorado, and of course that 4,500 hand dry spell happened during a Vegas trip. It was on single line play. A few hours at the tail end of one session followed by a few more hours at the beginning of the next session.
By the end of it, I would have paid the casino twice the quad amount just to have one come up on the screen to look at.

Any idea how many of those hands began with being dealt 3 OAKs? To me, that just adds to the frustration when you can't turn that last card.

IIRC, you get a chance to hit 3oak about once every 47 hands. So, you should get quite a few opportunities.
