Royal Frequency?
I just returned from a road trip vacation where I drove from Florida to Michigan and back. Along the way we stopped at every casino we could find and played a season or two. My first stop was Windsor Canada where I hit a $2,000 JB Royal in about 15 minutes of play. This got me to thinking about the frequency of Royals. I have been playing VP for about 5 years and play regularly about 2-3 times a month. I mix it up between JB, DDB & DW just to keep things interesting. I play about 600-700 hands an hour and consider myself a decent player. I seem to be averaging about one Royal every six months or so. Interesting enough, I have never hit a Royal on any game except Jacks or Better. I once hit 4 Royals in 24 hours, but that was crazy luck. I would be interested in knowing other peoples results who play at my frequency.

I'm not exactly sure of the question. If you're asking what is the frequency of RFs then the rule of thumb for JOB and games like that is an average of 40K hands. Time is immaterial. You can find this number for any game or paytable in most software tutors where they evaluate the games.
If you're wondering about why the frequency varies so much as we play that is simply the affect of randomness.

Yea, I know all that. What I want to know is other players real world experiences. Thanks.

Ok, this year I had 5 RFs through mid August and 6 RFs over the next 5 weeks. That gives me 11 total in 450K hands.
I had as many as 8 RFs in a two week period (playing lots of 3-play). Last year I had 24 royals in about 900K hands. The year before I had 17 in about the same number of hands but had 3 dealt to me in a 6 week period.
I had 'em playing many different games and a few progressives.
Like I said above, it's random and unpredictable.

Thanks for the interesting info. I am considering switching to 3 play games. I tried it for a while, but didn't have the guts to stick with it at the dollar level. I think I can handle quarter three play without going on tilt.

I usually played the games because they were the best games available. I've played quarter and .50 denoms, but never dollar due to bad paytables.
Always best to stay within your comfort level.

3 dealt royals in a 6 weeks wow!! I have had only 2 dealt royals in 15 years and I play about 250,000 hands a year. Funny thing is the first dealt was in my first year of playing and the other one was a month ago... talk about a dry spell. lol

I've played just about as long and I've played close to a million hands the last few years and a little over 500K for many years before that. The unusual thing is I've probably had a dozen dealt royals but never had one on the redeal.

Phil to show you how funny this game can be, I once hit 4 royals in a 5 hour period on the same night. I hit 3 on the same machine, jumped to the machine next to me (where the previoous player had hit one too) and I hit the 4th on the new machine. I have gone through streaks of not hitting any royals too. A couple weeks ago I was dealt aces on a 5 play machine and 5 minutes after they pay me off I hit a royal on the same machine. I have been playing video poker since 1993 and I just had my first dealt royal earlier this year. Good luck, Ted.

I rarely play anything other than $2.00 DDB and I hit 13 at one casino in the 2 years I played there. I hit 1 at Harrah's in 8 years and saw 1 other at the $2.00 level.
