Gambling with an Edge --- February 16

Post by BobDancer »

This Thursday, Michael Shackleford's and my guest on Gambling
with an Edge will be cocktail waitress Dollie Wong.

            While
Dollie isn't a typical guest for the show, we're going to be asking her questions
relevant to advantage players. One such question will be:

            What codes
(with respect to glassware, napkins, straws, etc.) are used by casinos do
differentiate between alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic drinks. While this
isn't important to video poker players, advantage table game players may well
want to appear to be drinking alcohol. We'll ask her how a player can induce a
cocktail waitress to "change the code" to mis-mark a non-alcoholic
drink.

            Michael
will be starting a segment where he will ask a question and the first correct
email answer will receive a copy of his Gambling 102. Some weeks I'll be
doing a similar giveaway with one of my books.

            GWAE may be
heard live Thursday evenings from 7-8 on 1230AM or streamed live at www.klav1230am.com. The show will be
archived on bobdancer.com and wizardofodds.com the next day.

Really? When I was on the show you said no cocktail waitresses ever, even when the folks on vpFREE begged for cocktail waitress and recommended Dollie you said no. What changed your mind?Who are you and what have you done with the Bob Dancer I knew?

Sometimes Frank, those red flags I was talking about come up with a great big note attached, and without the subject realizing it.

Sometimes Frank, those red flags I was talking about come up with a great big note attached, and without the subject realizing it.Backsider I was just ribbing Bob for doing the show on cocktail waitresses that I origonally suggested, after I'd left. I think the changes he's making to the show are super and exactly what it needed to keep it interesting.I couldn't be more pleased. And you should know, I know Bob really well. He's Mr. Blue Flag through and though.~FK

Oh Frank youre too kind. The scenario here is obviously when you and he had a radio show you wanted to interview a cocktail waitress or waitresses and he was adamantly against it. Now for whatever reason he IS going to interview a cocktail waitress on a show that does not include you. I added that bit of information into my truth recognition program, which includes his non-reply to your post, and it is now at over 98% that he is not being even close to honest with some of the things he says.  For the record, Ive listened to the last program, and I dont see where Wizard makes the show interesting, especially when compared to how you performed during it. Did you watch the Grammys last night? That show now reminds of of two Chris Browns, who are monotones that escalate nothing to the level thatll attract more listeners.  I could be wrong though. You may still blame Bush.

You may still blame Bush.  Listen, I was just ribbing Bob in a friendly Fashion as one friend to another. Don't go all conspiracy theory on me. So he changed his mind, I'm guilty of that all the time myself. I'm not the least bit upset about anything. Don't you think, I'd say if I was.Bob's skills and mine were too similar. The Wizard is far more cross-discipline than I was. I don't know if he's as good a vocalist, but the need for singing on that show was dubious at best.Oh, thanks for saying that I was a good host. I'll have my new show in a couple of months. And you should know the shows are not in competition in anyway. Bob's show is targeted at pro gambling. My new show will be more for recreational casino goers, even those that don't gamble. We'll cover a lot more about shows and food and other casino based recreation. It will also be nation wide and we'll be doing location broadcasts from all over the country.~FKP.S. What the heck is this program you keep referencing? Is that a joke or something serious?

When Shack was considering replacing Munchkin, one of his demands was once a month we have a non-gaming interviewee. I agreed --- reluctantly. Overall I like the different gaming experts Mike is able to bring to the show that I'm not.           I didn't like it when Frank and I strayed from gambling. Frank got to do an interview with a stripper while I was out of town. I'll be out of town one week in March. I don't know who Michael will have that week.           I find it curious that I was trashed here for my "non-reply" to Frank's teasing post as soon as he sent it. There seems to be an inherent understanding that to post on this site you need to hang out here all day and not have another life. Not for me.           Double points start all over town in two hours and I'll be busy most of tomorrow. I play much more during point multiplier days than I do at other times. The following day I teach (Deuces Bonus, noon Wednesday at the South Point, for those of you in Vegas --- with birthday cake because I'm turning 65 on February 15) and have an event with Shirley that evening. It might be three days before I show up here again. That will likely make Backsider's "truth recognition" program jump to all sorts of conclusions.            It doesn't surprise me at all that some people prefer Frank as a co-host to either Munch or Shack. He's witty and charming with an off-the-wall perspective. (He might even be crazy. I'm not sure.) Other people think the show is better now. For a lot of reasons, I'm happier with the show now than I was with Frank. And I'm most happy that Frank and I've been able to maintain a friendly relationship after I "fired" him.  Bob

What I like very much about your show, Bob, is the suspense. You never know from week to week who the co-host is gonna be. Smart on your part, very smart.

Frank, much of what I said was in jest. Im glad everyone is a good sport. I messed up by expecting Bob to respond so fast. That lowers probability to 96%.  The program is a real program, and what Im using is only a part of the overall tool we have. It also has face and voice recognition but were not allowed to use those features on the outside. We play around with it a lot and its surprisingly pretty darn accurate. A show is only as good as its guests and color person. I have some ideas for guests if anyones interested.  I wish I could get out to some of those multiple point plays but I cant go anywhere unless the gang takes me. Theyre still jiving me over that hit I had last week. Bob happy 65th. take a day off and stay home to enjoy it. They say it only comes once. Ive been away my last 2 birthdays, I spent both of them inside casinos, and I can attest that being home with my wife would have been a blessing over doing that.

It also has face and voice recognition but were not allowed to use those features on the outside. We play around with it a lot and its surprisingly pretty darn accurate.  I was hoping that was the case. I've been known to jest myself on occasion. And don't believe Bob when he tells you he "fired" me. The "truth" is I took a maternity leave. After you mentioned that the program had voice and face recognition features then I am familiar with it, or one like it. I'm even familiar with the method by which it comes to its conclusions. You are aware it has a fairly high false positive & false negative rate when analyzing just text???Normal False negative rate is around: 30% (2x if only text is analyzed)
Normal False positive rate is around: 10%( (2x if only text is analyzed)I'd be curious to know what it says about me.If what you have is like the one I've seen, it looks for certain word combinations, word choice and sentence structure that have been linked with abhorrent behavior. In its hand-writing analysis mode it looks for things like "the felon's claw".Where it doesn't work at all is when a person's writing style or sentence structure came to them from environmental factors and if it was not allowed to develop naturally. For instance, in England where some boarding schools rigidly teach a very particular hard writing style and grade students for strict adherence to it, the technique is nearly useless and tells one very little about the personality of the individual. These weaknesses are well known, which is why the results of such programs are not admissible in a court of law. From what I've read, it's a novelty at best. I hope you folks in the military aren't taking it too seriously for things that really matter. Remember, 90% accurate is another way of saying you are guaranteed to be wrong 1 out of 10 times.I'd still be curious to know what it says about my writing.~FK
