Re: Opinions on the new daily contest format
I am not sure what the issue is. For any daily contest, the winner will ALWAYS have a DEALT 4k hand. TDB gives you two hand types that would do this.
If peeps want to play to win the monthly challenge, then they will probably want to play some game other than TDB.
But if you want them to truly compete for the daily contest, then all should be playing the same game.
I think the addition of a monthly challenge has detracted from this. Of course, I was a Gold member on this site before there were any daily or monthly contests, so it is ALL good, IMO.

I, like billyjoe, am a long time member of this site and I went Gold about as soon as the option presented iteslf.
The contests, daily and monthly, are fun and they add to the attractiveness of this site but I don't visit the site to play in the contests and on any particular day if the contest is not a game I like then I simply choose not to play in it.
As far as people griping one way or the other about the contests I wish you would get off webmans back about them, at last peek this site had over 305,000 members and that doesn't count the ones who pop in for the monthoy contests so he cannot make everyone here happy.
Webman happily accepts people's suggestions about the contests but, as he stated, majority usually rules. Please remember that there may be other legalities as to why he can or cannot commit a game for a contest and these may go beyond the "Gold members only" contests or whatever.
These contests are a BONUS on this site and they could stop at any time. For those who visit this site strictly for the contests I say; good luck, but this doesn't give you the right to gripe about the FREE contests.
I know this post may offend some people but those people who know me understand where I am coming from.
Have an enjoyable day.

Bravo Ted ..
Not to sound too political, but I believe this site is a micrcocosm of our country at large. There is a growing sense of entitlement with regard to things that are given.

I prefer the option of changing games in the middle of a session. I don't like this new format at all. I don't play the contests to win (I never do), but for fun. And this is NOT fun. And for those who win, they still need a dealt royal to do that, and that can happen in any game, not just TDB or DDB. If this continues, I'll be visiting the site a lot less.

I actually don't care which way is chosen here. Billyjoe, in response to your microcosm comment, I usually check in here because it does NOT remind me of the politics at large. Speaking of that, though there are many exceptions, I would usually side with the people who like freedom of choice rather than side with those who like to restrict other people's freedom.

This month is sort of a "thematic" contest with everyone restricted to TDB. I can see the interesting aspects of that and it's certainly worth a try, and worth seeing how many of the usual suspects wind up in the top ten in this months winners' challenge.
Only one point today for yours truly, all my QQ hit in one session.

Freedom of choice also means deciding not tp play in a particular contest if they don't like the game. If a person wants to buy a new Ford Pinto and hates the color brown but at arrival to the dealership they find only one Pinto on the lot, in brown, should they buy it just because it is a Pinto? If they don't like the contest, don't play it; if they don't wqant a brown Pinto, don't buy it. Freedom of choice.

It nice to see some cogent comments about the change.
I think that once people digest it, more will come around and understand why this is a good move.

I feel that by only having THIS single game alone as the choice , that this is more biased
towards 'luck' than 'skill'.As most of you know, videopoker is a game that is a COMBINATION* of BOTH luck and skill. *IF NOT - I suggest you read some of the FAQs here about 'strategy' and the game itself in GENERAL, and/or read some common FAQs about videopoker math (i.e. - vpFree website and other guides like Bob Dancer's website). With
only 100 hand sessions, though, LUCK tends to play a larger part on ANY GAME FORMAT CHOSEN, and
CERTAIN GAMES (like Triple Double Bonus) lean even more towards 'luck'. This is where I feel that the 'monthly contest' (vs daily) breaks down. In the MONTHLY contests, I think there is at least some chance for skill to weigh in- as players should try to play games (with 100 short total sessions) that would ideally win the 'break-even' amount of credits. I thought that was a good idea and format (with multiple game choices within the game format chosen for the day). The DAILY sessions, though, would still weigh more towards luck.As an extreme example- What if the vp game format was such that ONLY pays for a natural RF DEALT was paid as the winner (4000 credits), and ALL other hands were losers (-0- credits). Would ANYONE even play that 'contest' then?Certainly, as a 'free' contest, everyone would try it. BUT WOULD videopoker 'skill' truly be rewarded in this situation?Obviously, then the 'contest' would truly be just a lottery-draw situation. Most likely, FEWER PLAYERS (who truly love the challenge of the game of videopoker itself), would even continue to play. Ask any casino manager. They have to offer a VARIETY of game types, with varying degrees of what is commonly known as 'volatility' to their games, to attact different types of players. If they only offer ONE TYPE of game (such as Triple-Double Bonus in their videopoker offerings), then they would lose customers.
Now, for a 'contest' format, I do see some logic to this. However, I truly think it is now made into a totally biased contest built more on luck than skill - which is unfortunate.Bottom
line: Is there any way to go back to having multiple videopoker game
CHOICES in these DAILY contests? Then I
think both a player's SKILL and luck would be more valuable in making
the contest a true 'test' of the player's playing ability. Thanks for your consideration.
