Re: New Daily Contest Format - Survey results

so you have 300,000 members and about 3500 gold and so we lose again.
So, just over  1% of the users of this website are gold members?  Such a shame because it is a great website. There are a lot of things that need to be done differently.  For starters if you ask people to get involved and to vote at the very least there should be some accountability.

If say hypothetically 100 people voted and over 50 of them did not like the new daily format what is your motivation not to go back to the way it was?  Those of us who voted should not be treated like mushrooms.  It has everything to do with credibility.  Do the right thing and tell us what the results of your survey were.  At this point all you have done webman is tell us what you have decided to do.  You have not told us what the percentage for and against was.

I am curious what it would hurt to bring back freedom of choice and strategy and a little less dependence on blind luck.  What is your motivation to stay with the single game format?

A new rope now? Did WE get a chance to vote on this before we got the new rope? First it was the re-engineering of the contests and now WE GET A NEW ROPE? When will it end people, WHEN WILL IT END? The horror, the horror...

Great post Tedlark.  I was sitting here wondering myself what any of this has to do with a new rope.

It really doesnt matter what format is used for the daily or monthly contests.  You will not place in the top ten unless you are DEALT that one big hand.  But the format for the winners challenge means everything.  Without  choices there really is no challenge.  I will not cancel my gold membership over this.  The site still has alot to offer.  And hey I can always come to the forum and laugh at a couple of posters who are so full of themselves I doubt they could find a hat big enough for their heads. Hoping many RFs come your way.

Hoping many RFs come your way. You made my point for me.  If you get to choose the variation of game during the daily contest,  you can go with the level of volatility that makes sense at the time.  I agree you need a monster hand to win for the day regardless of which variation of game you select.

If you are playing a contest where you need 1800 points for a winning session, some times it makes more sense to play a lower volatility game to get within striking distance when you get to the end of your 100 hand session.  If you are down to your last 20 hands and only have 1200 points you may wish to change to DDB or TDB to get the points necessary to win the session.

At the end of the month, by using strategy, you can end up with more winning sessions.  I don't care about the prize money but I do enjoy the competition.  Anything that allows for freedom of choice is a good thing.  Like you, I do not plan on giving up my gold membership over this.   It just seems to me that with this decision, we are getting less and making the competition less about individual choices.

I'll still be playing the winners' challenges. The challenge has been changed however from "pick the best game" to "play the offered game as close to perfect as possible." We still have to manage our bonus entries most efficiently, same as the multi-game format. Good mathematics everybody; as for me, 8 points in 17 sessions today on STP DW 15/9/4/4 and back within stalking distance of another month of gold membership...

I'm very disappointed in your decision.  I'm totally bored, for example, with today's contest.  If you insist on using Deuces Wild, couldn't you at least do Deuces Wild Bonus?  There's no way I can sit through 5 games with today's "no-choice" game.

And in case anybody thinks I don't pay to play, I do -- as a Silver member.  I do this so I don't have to see the ads.  I can't post on the chat board, but I can read the chat if I want to.
