Re: Unlimited play in contests

Speaking of the monthly contest (not a complaint!)---Is there some way that the daily sessions could roll over to the next day? I had a internet outage (along with millions of others) for a day, this effectively eliminates you from the monthly contest with no reason to continue playing. I don't blame anyone but my service provider and the backhoe guy who cut the fiber optics hundreds of miles from me, I just see this as a reason not to even play that contest any month! Another point---if you were going to be gone for one weekend next month why play the monthly---this would eliminate you before you start! Rolling over your games and getting to play your fair share would not make it unfair to anyone. But 1 day missed and this contest is over.
On another note....how does a guy hit 4 royals in 5000 draws....just kidding! Maybe next time it will be me :)
Great new format Webman, even if nothing changes---THANKS for the hardwork and great site.

Definitely not a fan of the new format!  I find myself getting bored by the end of the first day.  I liked the limited number of plays per day when it was 5 and you could earn 3 more, the 15 was way to much.  Having a daily game and earning Winners Challenge Points was much more exciting.

The new format is interesting and I hope most are happy with it but with
every format change I find myself playing less and less.  I rarely play
now, and I doubt I'll
be participating for much longer.  I've been playing contests since
long before the daily ones started and I've never made it anywhere
close to placing in the top 10. I've been playing VP for well over a
decade, both online and in the casino, and have played many, many
millions of hands without ever being dealt a royal.  It is the
combination of those 2 that makes playing in the contests seem like an
exercise in futility, at least for me, more now than ever.

It used to be that I could delude myself
into thinking I had a chance for at least most of the first day.  Sure,
the scores would be sky high, but they often still left a little wiggle
room.  On some days there were downright GOOD chances to get on the
board even into the evening without needing a dealt royal or a/k!   But
by the evening of the first day now virtually all the games have scores
that I've never been able to get anywhere near.

Sure, I could get lucky.  But after playing for years and never getting
even close the first day "bar" is set too high for me to even be
interested.  One look at the scores and my only reaction is "Why
bother?"  So from my perspective it's effectively gone from 22 days a
month when I found the contests compelling to 4.  Of course the good
news is that this gives me a lot more free time :)

And for all the people that love the new format great, and I'm in no way
trying to disparage you.  I think that the people that run
Videopoker.com do a phenomenal job of trying to juggle everyone's
requests and that they truly give a damn about trying to make it work as
best for everyone as they can.    So even though it may not work as
well for me, I wanted to make sure they knew exactly why so they could
take that into consideration if there were ever future changes.

On the topic of the monthly ongoing contest, the
above posts about internet service are exactly why I never even started
playing them.  It's a very rare month when my internet is NOT
down for at least one day.  There is no way I'm going to invest that
much time knowing the odds are way against my being able to play all the
possible sessions.   Perhaps everyone should get a single "get out of
jail free" card each month that allows them to replay a previous day's
lost sessions.

An opportunity to make-up missed sessions is something we thought of as well, and I hope to implement it in future months. We need to think through how to present that without adding any confusion to the process.Thank you for the feedback, Paul E Wog.

I totally agree with Paul W.  I truly enjoyed the daily contests.  Since those are gone, I hardly play at all any more, both the contest, group challenges or just playing any of the games.

Thanks for taking into consideration what I (and many others it seems) had to say Webman. No matter the results, you sure work hard for all of us to be happy and I for one appreciate it...thanks!

Webman... I see several people, including myself, do not like the new format so I'm curious to know are there more/less people playing and have total sessions increased/decreased?

So far, almost entirely positive results and feedback (much better than any previous contest change), but we want to let this run for a while before drawing any real conclusions.I do understand that with weekly contests being longer, like our previous end of month contests, there seems to be less incentive to play as the week goes on (even though your odds are just as good on the last day as the first).I have a plan to address this, but it will probably be a few weeks out.

I'm fine with the weekly contests, but I found as the monthly went along, and the top guy got 6 Royals and I had none, there was no chance of catching up so I quit. I'm not sure the accumulation of points works for me.
