Group Challange Scores

What is the significance of the points you earn in the group challenges? I recently started competing in them and have noticed that as I have now won a few of the challenges I am accumulating points.

You get 1 point for each opponent in the challenge. So if there are 50 players, you get 50 points. The points are just for fun to know how you're doing... No real significance other than that.
