Game going slow/freezing

I had a Gold membership for month and the games played fine. I didn’t renew and realized so many advertisements in games and it would be slow or freeze up. I have Pro now so it plays fine but it seems that it might not be worth it to play without a paid membership. Is there anything that can be done about that? Anything to do to make it play smoother with the advertisements?
