Going to vegas..Sams Town

Post by bgpacers »

I  have been to vegas lots of times, but have never stayed off strip. Going in march staying at Sams Town. Has anyone ever stayed there? Are the rooms nice?

my brother likes to go there, although I think he never sees the inside of his rooms.  He likes to play Tex Hold'm (poker room) and he plays quarter and dollar video poker.  I'm thinking he wouldn't go there if he didn't win.Hope your trip is successful and fun.

Sam's has good VP in quarters, nickels and some dollar. What games to you like to play? It's a big place.

You can also take a shuttle to the strip or downtown.

The rooms are pretty standard. I prefer an outside room . There is noise from the atrium light shows that you can be bothersome on the inside rooms if you like to rest during the day or early evening. If not, you may prefer the inside view.

I just stayed there in sept. 2007. The rooms are not fantastic but they are nice. As the Shadow says, get an outside room. WAAAAAY less noise from the atrium. VP's good there. I've always had pretty good luck at Sams as opposed to other properties. BBQ restaurant is good as is the buffet. 24 hr. coffee shop great for anytime dining. Boulder Station and Az. Charlies right up the street if you don't care for Sam's. Longhorn and Sunset Station to the south. Much success to you on your visit!

[/QUOTE] Now that you've let the cat out of the bag, the Rampart has a decent amount of nickel machines but next door at Suncoast, they've got a BUNCH! Theres a few FP machines but lots of 9/6. Good enough for this kid!

We will be going to Rampart on our next trip out.  Not sure when that will be.  Still licking the wounds from the last trip

I have to disagree with the statement that Sam's town has great VP.  I was just there and could not find many machines with 9/6 DDB at the quarter level.  I think I found one progressive bank with 9/6.  Don't know why a casino that has been rated very high for their video poker can't even get a 99% game in the casino with some consistency.   However, I found lots of 9/5 and 8/5 and a 7/5 progressive?  I guess they assume anyone willing to play this game is not smart enough to look for a good schedule.

Sams may have other good games but not DDB.  If you are a DDB player it is getting harder to find 9/6.  Almost everywhere I went during this Vegas trip only had 9/5 as far as I could tell.  Fiesta Rancho still rules with this game!  They have at least 50 optimum play machines undoubtably left over from the Dancer Days.  About half of their remaining machines have 9/6DDB and I did not see anything lower than 8/5 which they had on the progressives...

Anyway, I am glad I checked Sams out because I has not been there for a long time and need to keep up on what is going on out in Vegas.  I am sure that one day I will have to give up on DDB and learn a new game or two but not yet.

clwn2,

I know Sam's is a big place but they do have what you're looking for. They have 12 quarter 9/6 DDB progressives and 5 10/6 DDB quarter machines all located near the arcade/movie theaters. In the same area they have a 9/7 DB progressive that starts at $1500 and FPDW right nearby. Sam's also has CB that got up to .8% during the recent holidays.

Fiesta has 10/6 DDB, 10/7 DB and FPDW also but no CB and you earn points at $2 per point (this is also true of some of the Sam's Town machines). I guess it gets down to personal preference.

Many other casinos have 10/6 and 9/6 DDB as well. Tuscany has 9/6 and they are giving 10x points this month. BTW, for anyone else interested in 10/6 DDB, here's where they can be found in LV.
