I am not, repeat NOT voting........I do not understand why more people do not fathom that by with holding their vote(s) and NOT voting for anyone or either party's candidate, they are in fact making an even STRONGER statement than if they "hold their nose" and just vote for the least smelly option.See, it works like this:   When the election is over and the results tabulated, not only is a winner declared but also the level of support, or MANDATE, is determined by the actual number of votes the winner received when compared to the total number of POTENTIAL registered voters.Notes1 (and anyone else)......since you are republican yet you see the folly of Trump and the reality that, despite the intense hatred, Hillary is the better choice (more responsible choice), you feel you have to "hold your nose" and vote Hillary.    No you do not.....By not voting you put yourself squarely in the camp that MANY MANY people now sit, the camp that realizes SOMETHING new, SOMEONE different, is needed.     When the electionnight is over, Hillary will win, but if she wins a majority of only a SMALL number of the total POTENTIAL registered voters, then her power, or her MANDATE (i.e the ability to do the things she wants and  influence congress........or in your eyes, cause DAMAGE) is lessened!    Do you see?Illustration:   Suppose there are 10 million total registered voters......7 million turn out to vote  between Hillary  and Trump....70% participation.If hillary won by getting 54% of the vote (54% of 7 million is ......3.78 million votes), that would be the level of her "mandate".....Now instead, suppose that the now NOT TOO SILENT minority MAJORITY of Disgusted independents (like me)  who now represent anywhere from 40%  to 45% of the total voting population decide as a whole to stay home and drink beer and NOT vote, look what happens:  note there are two ways you could figure this, but I am choosing the less confusing wayFirst  subtract 40%  from 10 million and you get a potential voting pool of 6 million....now if you want to assume the SAME 70% participation rate, and hillary still wins by 54%, that means SHE  got 54% of 70% of 6 million, or (.54  x .7  x 6 million) =  2.268 million votes.So president Hillary clinton either lands in the "Oh Vell" (oval) Office with a total of 3.78million votes  or with 2.268 million votes......PLUS with such massive numbers of people not voting, congress (particularly and especially those in her OWN party) now feels bold enough to thwart her entire putrid agenda.    See???

No one counts the popular vote. It's the Electoral College that determines if someone has a mandate or not. In the most likely scenario, the Democrats will win the White House and Senate and the Republicans will hold the House, but lose some seats.

The last President that truly had a mandate was Reagan.bingo!     Well done billy, that is exactly who I was thinking about when I was making my post above.....Reagan won such a HUGE share of the popular vote that even though BOTH houses of congress were controlled by the OTHER party (Democrats). Reagan was able to accomplish MUCH of what he wanted because of the very fact that he had such a   M A N D A T E!!!!!Notice how, even though many democrats vehemently opposed and even disliked Reagan during that time (Hello Ted Kennedy),  they did not simply stonewall or thwart Reagan's EVERY Move or idea.....they worked with the man.    Compare that to how the Republican controlled congress the last 5 plus years has totally blown up Obama's every attempt to do anything, to the point even where they refuse to do their jobs that they were elected to do (hello supreme Court Nomination)!!Mitch McConnell said his job in 2008 was to ensure Obama was a one term president.....then when that failed his job became to simply torpedoe everything Obama proposed.Somebody should have taken that angry white old man and reminded him that this was NOT HIS JOB, that his job was actually DOING stuff and accomplishing stuff and solving problems, etc.      It is because of A-holes like MCConnell......and lets be fair, HArry reid on the Democrat Side, that corrupt A-hole,  that the country is in such putrid shape.The refusal on both sides (but more Republican than Democrat) to work together is what has killed this country......its ridiculous and criminal really what congress has done, or NOT done this past decade or so........

here is a question I do not know the answer to, would anyone who did what the FBI director said she did, ever receive security clearance in the usa government? would that person ever be able to have a job, where access to secret info was required?

it was brought up last night, was keeping her emails private more important than the security of the country and were lives put in danger, because of her actions. if one believes this to be true, how could one give her their vote? her own wishes were more important than those of the people she is supposed to serve.
