Re: FYI - Prolonged Sitting - Please Read
Thank you for your kind words Faygo .... I'm not concerned about the Heperin as much as I am about the coumadin ... it's "Rat Poison"
marlo don't worry about the warfarin(generic coumadin). The blood can be monitored by your Doctor by a very simple blood test. it works in somewhat the same fashion as a blood gluclose monitor. However' with warfarin, unlike Gluclose levels, it must be done by a Doctor. They check how fast the blood clots and adjust your dosage accordingly. I take warfarin(plus an Aspirin 325mg) daily and have been for almost 10 years with no ill effects.
By way of a layman's explanation the warfarin works in the Liver to reduce the amount of platelets in the blood and the Aspirin makes the platelets (for lack of a better word)slippery.
I do recommend that you get one of those Medical Alert bracelets or some other manner of letting Emergency workers or Doctors know you are on blood thinners. To ease you mind, it can be quickly reversed by a shot of vitamin K if need be.
As far as it being "Rat Poison" , I don't recommend self medicating with D-Con even though it is the same stuff.

Hope this information is helpful to you ....
marlo, Many thanks for sharing your story and for faygo and SM's input as well. I was aware of the circulation problems that both flying and driving can cause but had not realized the prolonged computer use aspect. I suspect more than a few of us have sat at a videopoker machine in a casino for way too long as well! There are 21, 517 forum members and climbing. Be assured that many of us will be discussing your post with friends and relatives and you have helped countless!

You mean lose fast and run strategy. But you could hop from machine to machine searching for patterns the the magical cycles. He is a fraud and if anyone has questions about this crook just pm me and I will be glad to share my knowledge of him with them.

I'm aware of the vitamin K ... with the advice of the doctor I am staying away from it until I am regulated at the right level of coumadin .. vitamin K is in dark green and leafy vegtables. I am also staying away from my multi vitamins because their is vitamin K in there.... this is only until I am on my prescribed level ... between 2-3 ..... then you can eat food with vitamin K but must be consistant with it... if you eat it twice in one week eat it again twice the following week..............
This is for anyone's FYI

SEVERAL YEARS AGO ( 2002 ) I ALSO HAD BLOOD CLOTS IN MY LUNGS. I WENT INTO WORK AND WENT UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS AND THEN MY HEART STARTED BEATING VERY FAST AND I COULDN`T GET MY BREATH. I WAS BREATHING LIKE I JUST RAN 10 MILES ( BELIEVE ME I CAN`T RUN 10 MILES ). I WAS RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEY RELEASE ME AND SAID DON`T GO TO WORK TODAY BUT YOU CAN GO TO WORK TOMORROW. WHEN I WENT TO WORK AFTER THE HOSPITAL THE COMPANY NURSE SAID DON`T COME BACK UNTILL YOU SEE YOUR DOCTOR. I WENT TO MY DOCTORS AND I HAD MULTIPLE CLOTS IN MY LUNGS.
BUT DIDN`T GET BLOOD CLOTS FROM SITTING. MINE CAME FROM SLEEP APNEA. WHEN I SLEEP AT NIGHT AND SNORE YOU CAN STOP BREATHING. WHEN YOU STOP BREATHING YOUR HEART BEAT SLOWS DOWN AND YOUR BLOOD CIRCULATION SLOWS DOWN ALSO. THEREFORE ALLOWING BLOOD CLOTS TO FORM.
I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A WEEK ALSO AND WAS ON COUMADIN FOR 1 YEAR. FORTUNATELY I HAVEN`T HAD ANY CLOTS SINCE.
GOING FOR BLOOD TEST CAN BE A LITTLE INCOVIENCE BUT YOU`LL BE FINE.
GET WELL SOON

Sounds like your Doc filled you in fairly well. Yes diet is very important. I notice a difference between the Winter and Summer diets even.
