Millions, billions, trillions, gazillions, brazillions. Who cares?
It's all just a bunch of zeroes that we are never going to pay back anyway.Republicans bitched about it when Obama was in office and then became even worse offenders when they took power.
Do not fear the zero. We will kick the can down the road to our grandkids who will kick it down to their grandkids. Someday, the USofA will owe more than can possibly exist and it will still be business as usual.

I hope that everyone hits the ground running next year. Incredibly, market was +530 today. I gained everything that I lost in yesterday's debacle, plus more. I was an absolute dizzy mess yesterday. I only wish that the President had tweeted after 4 PM to save everybody some money. After hours trading would have been a tad less stressful on the pocketbook. I may not have even noticed.

A 500 point swing is about 2%.
I look at my portfolios maybe once every month or so. When I moved from Henderson, I misplaced my notebook with all my coded passwords so I couldn't log on to my TD Ameritrade Private Investing account for months. As I wasn't going to sell any, it was no big deal. My only decisions these days is to cash out my dividends or reinvest them. They are my entertainment money, and I have not done much entertaining lately.

Sounds like that was a blessing in disguise. I am still spooked by this spring, so I am obsessively combing over mine. It's unhealthy and stressful. I will try to lay off and only sniff around when it's a triple digit hit, maybe. I think that I have to set that kind of parameter to avoid insanity.

Set it and forget it. If the company was good yesterday, who cares what some maniac says on twitter.

Used to love day trading when I first retired, but the bookeeping was torture. So I gave up. Also lost plenty due to some big well known companies defrauding investors. Still have my toe in, but that’s about it. I almost have to agree with set it and forget it if I had a longer time horizon. When I was 44, I took out a life insurance policy for the wife just to cover the loss on the one stock that defrauded investors and us. It was a darling of wall st too.

Ditto. If the markets hold for the next 3 weeks no worries.

I seem to have somehow recovered last week’s massive loss this week. What a perpetual casino.
