according to BR, 'my neighborhood crashes and burns'. maybe you missed these stats. as of original post date.notes1 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 7:48 pm'my own neighborhood crashes and burns', per BR..... hmmm. let's see what the actual numbers say.
my neighborhood is tampa, fl, made up of 3 counties, with a total population of nearly 3 million, including one of the largest, busiest casinos in america. i live in the county that includes st.pete's and many of the beaches, including clearwater. as of yesterdays numbers, the TOTAL death count for all three counties was 690 souls.
3 million residents...690 deaths, older florida age group, not too much different than a bad flu season.
a couple hours away is SUMTER county, home of the villages, famous for it's large number of retirees. county population total 132,400, average age 66. total deaths 25.
br speaks the truth, not facts.

I dont know Tampa but the other county could be Winterhaven, with over 200 dead, or Manatee with 175+
or the very rural county to the north with 90+ dead.
So a minimum for any three counties of 839, and possibly as many as 920. Up from 690 last week.
I'd say someones roof is on fire.
How many flu deaths in those counties last July?

This week, Florida has had four days of record deaths . Just a few embers here and there. Ignore them so we can concentrate on what really matters- What happened in April.

before you make the accusation that' my neighborhood crashes and burns', you might want to actually know what you are talking about.
tampa met area (my neighborhood), made up of; hillsborough, pinellas, and pasco counties. google includes hernando county. TOTAL population...3,200,000.
total covid deaths, as of today...872.
what areas in ny, nj, conn, ill, pa, etc, with more than 3 million people have less than 900 deaths?
crashing and burning, sure!

florida is the 3rd most populated state, surpassing, NY, by more than 2 million. florida has received little in the way of federal assistance, unlike NY, which has gotten many millions.
florida is also the 2nd most visited state, with more than 111,000,000 visitors last year. lots of visitors, some bring problems with them, including chinese virus, many from NY.
florida has been open for business (with some restrictions) for a couple of months.
are there hot spots, yes. mainly same as in the beginning, miami-dade.
