i suspect maybe some poor immigrants working for casinos also got caught up in everything.

The housing bubble in LV was worse than in most parts of the country. At it's height my small LV townhouse was worth just as much as my other home in MN. Never mind that the square footage of the entire lot was much less than my other home which was located on 2 acres.
 
Now my townhouse is worth just a little more than I paid for it nearly 5 years ago. Had I bought it any later the value would be less than I paid. This is what happened to many, many people. In addition, many people took out loans on their equity increases during these 5 years. These loans can't be paid back either.

Unfortunately, a big chunk of this mess can be blamed on Californians trying to buy up second properties in Clark Co. and driving the housing prices up. Borrowing on equity from homes in Ca, and buying homes in Nv and when the mortgage market started collapsing, all the straws started falling down. Now they have nothing in Nv and little or nothing in Ca. Hows that for a Fa La La La La.... La la la la dinger?
