Ted, I said to B74 we are all 3% something. Mentioning it made them look silly. I never said anything disrespectful or mean. If you all are going quote me and attack me for something I said please get it right.

Further up B74 said he or she was offended by my use of colorful language. She or he was offended by said language. He or she then said they were offended . Then mentioned they were 3% I____N I said everyone is 3% something. If you all are going to hold me to this high standard. You should expect for me to hold you to the same. Be careful what you wish for you might just get it....

How can you fault people for using the word "Indian" when people are exposed to things like this from the casinos themselves?

And this... Harrah's Cherokee Casino is a casino located on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, North Carolina. The casino is owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation. This is currently the only casino in the state of North Carolina.
They proudly display themselves as owners in the sign in front of their property.

I agree with the observation made by someone that the postings on this thread are entertaining. On April 5th Webman posted that we can not use the word “indian” in talking to or about a certain party.  I think this is an example of political correctness gone wild.If there was some one to protest to, who is above Webman I would do so.  If I could get many of the gold members to cancel their membership temporarily, as a protest, I would do so.  This is how displeased I am with the decision to overreact to the antics of one person.According to Wikipedia, and according to my $50 dollar dictionary, the word indian is not a negative word.  In fact it is a word used well beyond describing native americans.  To “outlaw” the use of this word in conjunction with one specific person is, in my opinion, an abuse of powerOf course I will play by the rules and not mention the word indian in conjunction with a certain party.   On the other hand does this native american have any idea how poorly his words reflect on the whole tribe of american indians? In 1995 when the Cleveland Indians beat the Atlanta Braves, which team did this person root for?  Words like indian, brave, or squaw are not owned by native americans.  These are not naturally negative words, although they can I guess be used in a negative way, Imagine the disruptions that would be created if each of us were to request that a certain word - a word with special meaning only to our self not be used in writing to or about our self.  While that might make each of us feel more empowered, what would it do for promoting the subject of video poker?I have no idea what the mission statement is of this website.  Perhaps  there is no mission statement, only a capitalist imperative to maximize profits at any cost, including the loss of our freedom of speech.I have no axe to grind with native americans.  When I went to a tribal casino in northern michigan in the 1990's I am sure there were Indians in employment there.  But I did not see indians.  What I saw were men and women doing their job.I guess I am racially blind.  Still I am not blind to censorship, political correctness and applying oil to the squeaky nut rather than dealing with the specific problem - one person’s foul mouth and that persons unrealistic expectations from others.

To be clear, I specifically said that using the word in ways such as "Indian Casino" is entirely appropriate. The only way it is not, would be to say "Hey Edog, you're a nice little indian." This is because the only reason to do so would be to be deliberately offensive to him knowing his sensitivity to that word, and personal attacks are not permitted on the forum. Name-calling as a whole is generally not permitted. It does nothing to keep this a fun community.I can't think of any legitimate reason for someone to call Edog an Indian. I have never seen it happen, and I don't expect to unless someone is being abusive. In other words, Edog was way out of line and was suspended. Nobody has ever been suspended for using the word Indian that I can recall and I've specifically stated that you are welcome to use the word. If your concern is really your freedom to call edog an Indian knowing he is offended by it, I think that would be a silly stand to take. But you're welcome to if it's that important to you.

(some of the quote removed)Very good post.I couldn't believe the coddling done by Webman, either, as he has done in the past with Edog.  Immediately, I too thought of a word I should demand not be used in conjunction with me, but how childish would that be?Silly, silly, silly.
