Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna and held her in the tower. Jon Snow is the result of that kidnapping and subsequent rape.

Hold your head high DaBug. I'm addicted to the show too and not ashamed of it. Interesting that Jamie killed the Mad King because he was going to burn the city ... and that's just what Cersei did! hmmm. Queen slayer in the making? And didn't Kristen shoot JR?

Now, if we could only find out who was killed in the season finale of The Walking Dead.

Now, if we could only find out who was killed in the season finale of The Walking Dead. You need to research (lol)  the whole dynamic of Rhaegar and Lyanna! here is the rub....Rhaegar actually DID NOT "kidnap" Lyanna Stark because she, in fact, was also enthralled and in love with Rhaegar (who was known to be totally irresistible to women it seems)!   Yet, both of these characters (Rhaegar & Lyanna) KNOW that their Feelings of love & passion for each other are DOOMED and ill fated:   Rhaegar is already married with 2 babies, in a cordial but passionless (for him) Politically Arranged marriage to Elia Martel of Dorne as part of the Targaryen/Martel alliance;    Lyanna is PROMISED to Robert Baratheon again in a "arranged marriage", and Robert is totally smitten and in love with Lyanna but Lyanna does NOT feel the same way about Robert;  Supposedly, Lyanna "sneaks off" with Rhaegar as the two TRY to escape their suffocating lives and live free to love each other, and this is how they eventually wind up in the Tower of Joy, living and loving while the world turns and burns around them.....The stark men (Ned's Father, his Older Brother Brandon and Ned himself) along with Robert Baratheon somehow arrive at the conclusion that Rhaegar Kidnapped Lyanna, so Neds Father and Older Brother head off to Kings landing to demand Lyanna be returned.   Of course Lyanna and Rhaegar do NOT want to be found so they are not there, so there is nothing at thar......Rhaegar's father, the Mad King  Aerys II, however, does not LIKE the "tone" or demands of the Starks so he BURNS them alive with wildfire!    And thus, the WAR of Roberts Rebellion begins........and ends shortly thereafter with Rhaegar dead at a Battle of the Trident and the Mad Kind Dead by Jaime's hand.    Rhaegar and Lyanna were hiding out in Dorne when the WAR began and Rhaegar's sense of duty and loyalty to his family compelled him to leave Lyanna (now very VERY Pregnant with Jon)  and lead his father's army at the Batt;e of the Trident.

Thank you for the background DaBug. I have not read any of the books so have been dependent upon what the show reveals. My post was mainly to substantiate your statement that Jon Snow is half Targaryen.

Suppose Robert wanted some premarital sex and forced himself on her. She flees and later discovers she's pregnant.
