Re: Any guesses....???
I like Cam Newton more than Johnny Manziel. Cam is immature, Johnny, something more is wrong. Bring back Johnny Unitas!

Racism is an easy excuse for some people. I'm white and grew up in the housing projects in Queenns NY. 64 years old now. Experienced racism 50 years ago. No, not white on black, the other way around. Don't know where you grew up DB, but it wasn't in my neighborhood. Don't blame every black person for it, but have a feeling you grew up in a nice Lilly white New England town. Please tell me I'm wrong.lol "lilly white"?? Nope, no racism there....move along folks nothing to see here.Just like the supreme court justice who said "I cannot define pornography but I know it when i see it", racism is also one of those "i know it when i see it" type phenomena....You bet I grew up in a town that had (back in the 70s and early 80s) almost ZERO african american or hispanic people.....my high school had ZERO African Americans, one Hispanic but a significant number of Asian Americans (who, in a case of reverse racism, RAISED our test scores on the math aptitude side to some of the highest levels in the state.....in fact the only "lilly white kid" in the entire high school in 1985 to score higher on the SAT Math (the 1985 version) than the 19 Asian Americans in a class of 216 kids was.........ME That racism occurs in all directions (black on white & white on black) amongst all races and peoples is obvious........ I have No clue at all what your point above is, other than you apparently had some challenges growing up (for which i commend you for apparently overcoming, but of course, i really do not know you so......) I will share this: For someone to be JUDGED on their external self rather than their INTERNAL self and qualities (i.e. WHO they really are, not WHAT they are); for someone to experience the PRE-JUDGEMENT of others on what they can or cannot do; for someone to experience being EXCLUDED from various social events and actvities based on what he/she looks like or the perception that others draw from their external, physical self........well I am as qualified, if not more so than others to know what that feels like, looks like, sounds like, acts like etc.No one gets to choose how, or where or what or when they are born or the circumstances and specific of their lives.

Thank you for the thread Galey. It started as a light-hearted topic with some good natured ribbing, then somehow segued into a discussion on discrimination. So to finish my thoughts on the original subject, of course I'm disappointed in the way the Panthers' offense played. They were out-coached, period. Cam's line could not protect him and his receivers were too well covered. Add to that 16 penalties, turnovers and just poor passing and throws that should have been caught and we got the defeat we deserved. Von Miller earned the game MVP status and the entire Bronco team played like Super Bowl Champs. Well done horsies!

DaBurglar two notes (no not YOU notes) about your post:
First, if you scored higher than your Asian-American classmates on the SAT math (1985 version), how did these same Asian-American students raise YOUR test score and you neglected to mention if any other minority students scored higher than you?
Second, your last sentence is somewhat right but not complete. Sure a person does not get to choose their birth right but a person is very able to change the circumstances and specifics of their life. ESPECIALLY in this country.

Car, Johnny Manziel is another example of excess and ego. I do not believe he should have been awarded the Heisman and I also believe he is not of starting quarterback caliber in the NFL.
If the Cowboys did draft him he would have been even more out of control than he is now and they should give serious thought to not signing him come March.

A lot more structure with the parents looming nearby. Of course, addicts are pretty hard to corral.

DB, My point is you seem to have an opinion of who I am without knowing me at all. I think Ted made that point some time ago as well. Whatever happened to "a person should be judged on the content of his character, not the color of his skin". I do agree with your last sentence though. The lilly white thing was just to get a rise out of you . I apologize, I'm a garden variety white person too.

FAA yes, it is debatable and Johnny Manziel comes from a well to do family. The word I get from Texas friends is that he has been spoiled and has had an air of entitlement most of his life. I don't want anyone to trip through life but when they put the very obstacles down that they then trip over, it makes it difficult to continue rooting for that person. If he is still getting into trouble after rehab; doesn't bode well for him. I did hear from a Texas friend about an hour ago and the early word is that the Cowboys will pass on making a play for Manziel.

I'm not surprised. JM should be toxic to the entire league.
