Re: Some Pretty Stuff in an Ugly World
Beautiful flowers and pictures. This week, we are getting the first rain here since March. With 110+ ending as well, maybe my flowers will blossom again. Thanks to my drip, the plants survived.

Nice. Out here, even the cacti are shriveling.

Thanks I heard that on the news. Years ago my best friend went on a gold mining trip our your way. He made the mistake of doing something to a cactus and it shot all kinds of needles into him
. I forget what kind. Maybe Jumping Cactus?

I’d rather subject myself to a cactus than extensive VP dollar play. It’s just not worth it.

Thankfully, I haven't had that experience.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 2:37 pmThanks I heard that on the news. Years ago my best friend went on a gold mining trip our your way. Good from what I read, you don’t want to. If I remember the rest of the story ( back in the 1970s), my friend made the mistake of lighting his pipe a bit too close to this so called jumping cactus. Just for the heck of it, I did a little research last night on this cactus. Evidently, the barbs lock into you so tightly, that often times a piece of the cactus will break off before the barb will pull out. Luckily, my friend had a Native American guide with him who knew what to do or he may not have ever made it back to Ct to tell the story.
. Believe it or not, we could use some rain out here again. At least in the immediate shore area. We have a Christmas Cactus in the house that we have had since shortly after we were married over 51 years ago. This one is pretty friendly and at this point, part of the family. They can live to be over 100 years old. This week will be a short one for VP. Work being done in the house, Dr appointments, and probably due to a big convention no free room offers at Bizarro. Probably good to take a break anyway. If I get a chance to walk down at the shore, I will keep my eyes open for a good photo to shoot and to post here. There isn’t too much else up here that hasn’t bloomed yet, but the flowers up here continue to surprise me.
