Re: MARKETS,Anybody even yet?
"What the Tech? NASDAQ +3.1%!"
Markets: +2.43%, +2.76%, +3.11%. I was +1.42% today. Account management is incredibly reluctant to sell. My advisor said that they pressed him for additional reasons why I wanted to go half cash. It got so convoluted for him that he threw in the towel and cancelled! As it turns out, I fully concur. All's well that ends well. Hopefully, I can declare a weekly victory by Friday night.

You still did better than me. Up .51 % partly due to my sqqq purchases. Still up is up. No complaints. If it tanks again, I will just sell sqqq. I didn’t buy enough to offset a 700 point up day. I am kicking myself for not buying at least a small position in Nvidia Not just because Paul Pelosi bought millions of it, but because of the pending legislation even if it doesn’t pass, it shows support for chipmakers

A top five day in my five months back. I foolishly sold a chunk on July 1, a bad day. There's always an unpredictable lag between request and execution. Managed accounts mean layers of red tape, I have come to learn. I almost insisted on half cash then. I'd really be regretting that call. Basically, I'm a wreck. If I'm down single digits at year's end, it will be a miracle.

Personally, I don’t know why many people bother with a managed account to begin with. Anyone with any knowledge at all can probably do better with etfs and manage things on their own better than so called experts. My brother and sister pay thousands a year to have someone or a firm manage their accounts. I am down less for the year than both of them. Not by that much, but a half point or so. And that is after my screwups due to a lack of discipline or keeping the Mrs happy by not selling Disney last January. I wanted to get out at 173. Now it has creeped back up to 99. Down a bit over 9 percent for the year. Not bad considering the Disney fiasco. PS…..In our IRAs both Roth and traditional, I went to all cash before February except one 403b that is 20 percent stock, 15 percent bonds and the rest cash. If I throw those into the equation, I beat their experts by a mile and believe me, I am no genius with this stuff. I just read a lot and study history.

Here is where I sit as an almost 74 year old in my regular brokerage account. I don’t think it is a bad mix considering my age…..Here are the percentages….Cash 23, non taxable muni bond fund 46, stocks 23 most of which are dividend plays, Treasury bond fund 5, sqqq 3. That adds to 100. Hey, I can still do math in my head. No cash register with pics on it needed here and I can actually sign my own name legibly. Obviously, I am not a Dr…….hee Hee hee. My future goal is to just stay even with inflation. Not what they tell us, but the true number. In quite a bit of trouble this year in that regard!!

It sounded too good to be true, and it was. It turns out that I really like being an active investor and frequently stirring the pot. This is a straitjacket. I’ll never do this again if I make it out even, so help me.

I'm getting splattered.
There's been nowhere to hide in the gold mining sector. Today I added more NEM (S&P 500 component, but for how long?), AEM and WDOFF.
I think tomorrow comes the ECB rate decision. Hiking either .25 or .50 as I recall. ECB is still below zero as of now.

Today's red sectors were energy and telecom. Market didn't like AT&T's guidance.
