Re: MARKETS,Anybody even yet?
I sold all my stocks last year and went into a private wealth fund. Recently, I sold a few comics and bought $10,000 worth of US bonds and $12,000 worth of ATT. That stock was very good to me over the years, and I think it may have turned a corner.

I have some comics from the 60s and 70s. I really need to research them. I am guessing you bought the I bond. If not, tell me a good one. As to AT and T, even if it sits where it is now, the dividend is nearly 6 percent. I think you will be fine with it. Haven’t heard their forecast going forward, but the current p/e is below 8.

Here's what I don't understand.
Apple, AT&T & Verizon. 5-day chart:

The telecoms are crashing because consumers are tapped out.
Why is Apple going up? Apple relies on the same consumers, and manufactures the handsets that T and VZ are unable to sell.
We can debate whether T & VZ should be bought now, but I wouldn't touch AAPL with a 10-foot stick.
Yesterday I added more VZ. T is confusing to analyze because you have to factor the WBD spinoff, but I'll probably add next week if it goes lower. I'm still preoccupied buying pet rock miners.

Gold bugs on Twitter rn:
- We expect gold to hit 20,000 within 3 years.
So I should buy it now at 1,700?
- No, that would be insane. You have to wait til it stops going down.

There is a fascinating article about illegal gold miners in Ecuador that have been operating hundreds of years and now entire towns are sinking into giant sinkholes. I will see if I can find where I read the article. The ore is super high grade where they are mining
It was bloomberg.com the article which is quite lengthy is called the sinking gold town

I think Bloomberg articles are paywalled, but I would guess Bloomberg is spewing propaganda.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:32 pmThere is a fascinating article about illegal gold miners in Ecuador that have been operating hundreds of years and now entire towns are sinking into giant sinkholes.
Recently there were news articles about a $12 trillion gold discovery in Uganda. Gold inspires a lot of hyperbole. Someone once said "a gold mine is a hole in the ground with a liar standing next to it."

Ours just went up too. I would dump it if the girls didn’t insist on keeping it. I haven’t checked lately to see if I can get a better deal with them. My bill is 216 bucks a month!!! No phones are financed, unlimited data, 3 lines, insurance on 2 lines. Ugh!! If anyone knows how I can shave this with Verizon, please chime in.

Must be I just checked with my brother and sister who are more tech Savy than me in shopping on line for deals on phones and tech stuff. Good guess that I am the oldest. My sister is actually 18 years younger than me. Anyway, They all pay about the same as me if I factor out the finance charges on their phones. Of course, they have to have the latest ones. I am more than happy with my old SE that was my sisters cast off phone. Fits perfectly in my shirt pocket and does everything I need to do and some stuff I could care less about. I am going out on a limb and predicting a rough week for the market! If I am right, I get to sell sqqq and make money. If I am wrong, my other stuff goes up and I make money on paper. If I am really wrong, I get to sell PRU and make money and wait for a dive again. Going easy this time. Less stress than when I retired almost 20 years ago and did day trading for 2 years. How would you like to have an income tax return the size of a small phone book?? Kept track of everything all manually too and filed a paper return. May still file paper this year too.
