The herd instinct is strong. I rely instead on logic and math.
Every stock can be analyzed to determine its fair value. I seek to buy the ones that are on sale. I do keep an eye on some of the technical analysts who claim to identify "breakouts" or other indicators of purchase opportunities, but you have to realize imo that there's a ton of nonsense in the world of investment advice.
Didn’t check how much, but down…..many predicting another 20 percent additional loss by year end. I bailed a chunk, but not soon enough. Consequences are now!! Looks like big tax loss selling by year end. Bummer about the 3,000 cap not counting carryover. Adjusted for inflation, that 3,000 cap set many years ago might as well be 0. That was set in 1977 45 years ago. Give me a ….in break!
I believe the markets will rally this fall until the end of the year. 2023 is when the recession will hit and then the markets will drop. Too many people working right now but layoffs are starting to be announced and 2023 is when the effect will start to be felt.
I will sell a few positions either late this year or early next year and then buy back sometime in late 2023. I don't believe the recession will last more that 5-6 months.
This just my take and perhaps I am way off. Time will tell
