In 1970, right after I graduated from UCONN, Jobs were scarce. For seven months until I got my career job, I worked in a local auto wrecking yard. I actually loved it being a car buff big time, and though virtually all of the employees were Ex cons, I got along fine with them. One guy named George was an ace mechanic and he had just been released from prison after serving over 20 years. We got along well and became fishing buddies that summer. We never discussed his crimes or anything about prison life. We would fish for striped bass from about 2 AM until 6 AM then I would drop him off, go home, shower, and head for work at the wrecking yard. After a while, I felt comfortable asking George what keeps him on the straight and narrow? He told me it’s the fear of going back to that place and not being able to come here and go fishing. Well one thing is for sure, there is no fear of that in Chicago.

If you’re in the market at all, be thankful Trump is in office. This goes for retirement accounts 401(k)s IRAs and your general investments. The Dow just hit 28,000. If the Dems get in it will crash like a lead balloon just my opinion but lots of people back me up. The Dems dictionary is pretty short with only two words. Tax and spend.

You might want to look at the historic returns under the various administrations. For trump to have the same percentage increase that the dow had under Obama, it will have to be over 40,000. Does anyone see the dow crossing 40,000 in the next few years? Democrats tax and spend. Republicans cut taxes and spend more. Anyone that thinks the last two Republican administrations did a better job on the economy than Clinton and Obama did has some explaining to do. Obama took office in the middle of the great recession and handed trump the best economy ever. What will trump hand Biden?

Notes, if it makes you feel better trump has at least one transgender vote coming his way. Bruce Jenner. You might tell your daughter or granddaughter not to enter a triathlon Jenner has registered for. Besides, trumps mismanagement of trumpplague is far bigger issue in upcoming election. Wait and see. smr, if you had athletically inclined granddaughters, who might qualify for a college free ride, it might not be such a joke. but, then again, all you have ever cared about, in all your posts, is what is good for you.

I question why any non-revenue producing sport should be handing out scholarships. Why should the parents of a student who is majoring in accounting be subsidizing the education of someone elses kid because that kid is faster, or better at shooting a puck?
Mens football and basketball make millions for a school. Why not use it to support all the students rather than hand out scholarships for mens or womens crew?
One of my old colleges, Hofstra spend a fortune renovating it's football stadium only to have a new President come in and cancel football. He opened up the stadium to local youth groups, was able to attract a pro soccer team, eliminated all the coaching/training positions and replaced nearly 100 scholarship students with people paying tuition.
