Do wealthy and rich people gamble?

Post by stevel96a1 »

i always read and heard only ignorant and poor play the lotto. but what about casino games? do bankers/lawyers/doctors/government officials/private contractors etc etc go in the casino and gamble it up? and if so what populous is it that make up the below poverty line that push out there low paying pay check towards the house?

my selective memory is no help when comes to numbers i see all kinds from men in suits to shady characters id like not meet in a dark alley.

does anyone know the percentage and ratios? or any studies on it?

First one that comes to mind: Larry Flynt. K.K. Ichikawa played fast and had the cash to turn a casino's lights out.

There are most likely hundreds of studies that have been published on lower earning wage earners (and those on public assistance) and gambling.

I don't know where the originating poster wants this thread to go and what their intent was.

I don't know about occupation percentages of people that gamble. I have met over the years 1 doctor, 1 lawyer, 2 bankers, 2 union government workers, to many school teacher's to give an accurate account. :o

Speaking of rich people, why doesn't Mike Bloomberg donate all the money he is spending to take down Trump to a worthy charity.

better yet, why don't all the wealthy who believe in higher taxes, donate their money toward the federal government?

One of the early theories surrounding the death of James Jordan, Michael's father, involved gambling debts. This was unfounded.

Over our history we've seen several pro athletes playing high stakes games often one on one with the dealer. I recall one retired professional basketball player who played at L'Au Berge $500/hand black jack multiple trips. There are several regulars who my host at GN works with who are big suits in the oil industry and will play $10-20K per night. One comes to mind that plays $45/spin on a Tarzan game for hours. Another, a private contractor who came from Lafayette would play 100 play $1VP/$500/hand at Coushatta. A quad or full house gave him hand pays and he'd have them bring him back $1000 tickets for the machine out of the hand pay. Saw him once give a guy on his machine $100 to let him play it. Same with a Computer Engineer out of Austin.

Since gambling is illegal in Texas (LOL) there are many private poker clubs in downtown (for those who don't want to drive 2 hours to La.) where stakes are $100K +. And, I reported a couple months ago about the retired pastor I met who was playing knowing he was going blind.
