Happy National Hamburger Day
I squeezed in a couple of NHD deals at the chains. Here is my Wendy’s haul. $3 SOB with all the extras with the free loaded JBC. Reports claim that the hamburger was founded in New Haven, CT at Louis’ Lunch, which was established the same year Babe Ruth was born in 1895. This passed muster with the Library of Congress. I saw a video of their cast iron vertical broilers. It comes on toast with cheese spread, thick onion, tomato and seasoning. The seating is communal picnic benches and small nooks. I would wager that Olds has enjoyed one or two.

Good till 6/2. We opted last night for just the 1.49 jcb and the 1 cent jbcb. We both got the key tag Frostys too. The usual. Starving after the ride home in pouring rain from Bizarro. They just brought the survey wheel back as well. When I go to the Wendy’s on the way to Bizarro, the manager lets me pick anything I want from the wheel without spinning it. I’m somewhat of a celebrity. On major Holidays, I tip all of the employees who happen to be on duty when I get there.

I definitely missed the expiration date. I also made a BK pit stop for BOGO hamburgers. Wish that gimmick survey wheel was national. They sure roll out the red carpet for you!
Have you had Louis’ Lunch on Crown Street? I’m sure that it’s a sacrosanct institution. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places. Patrons have been ejected for requesting ketchup.

Never been to Louis Lunch though most everyone has. Downtown New Haven is a very dangerous place overall and the parking and congestion is terrible. I only go there when I have to for medical reasons. Anytime I have ever been for anything else, my car has been vandalized or hit and run. The crime is out of control. Anyone can watch channel 8 ABC news at 6 pm and watch or look it up on line and you will see what I am talking about. Some crimes and serious ones too there are almost no consequences for it’s a constant catch and release over and over again. Just like most of the sanctuary cities. That said, I do want to get to the recently reopened and renovated Peabody museum. That is one fantastic place. PS…….Louis still serves their burgers just on plain toast

I don’t know FAA. That’s a pretty rare burger and typical I guess at Louis Lunch. I suppose I could go on a Rainey day at like 2 in the afternoon and see how it goes. Street parking only as far as I know. Being a history buff, I will probably go just to see the upright 1890s Broiler ovens. I’ll see if I can find a picture of them.

You must go. The cradle of cheeseburgers in in your very backyard. Or at least cheese spread burgers. That is a most appetizing fact! I don’t love rare, but when in Rome. Don’t forget to BYOK (bring your own ketchup). My weight has now exceeded your area code. Looks like a liquid diet for a week.

I’m not far behind and I have Drs orders.
. The sodium in the processed food is brutal too.
