It is great to see this, and long overdue! While I do not believe all of the out of state money that is gambled (that state up north and Indiana) will stay in Ohio, we can probably assume a great majority of it will. Not sure how long implementation will be delayed due to potential court battles.  It does not sound like this action will plug all of the holes in the state budget, but it will surely help.  Besides all of the postives for the horse racing industry (and of course many other more important state needs), believe this will at least reduce the amount of money needed from school levies, Southwestern City Schools near Columbus comes to mind. I will most likely still go to Vegas twice a year even after the machines are installed.  In the future it will be interesting to see how many VP machines are installed and of course the paytables.  Jim, I would assume you are pretty excited about this?

If they are typical Video Poker VLTs the pay tables will not matter. Like those in New York the returns of most VLTs are pre-set just like slot machines. In NY the returns vary from 90-92%.

Thanks for pointing this out, I was not aware of this difference.  Sounds like potentially extremely low returns.  I will stick with my twice a year Vegas trips.

I would keep an eye on the state's official website. Hopefully, they will explain exactly how the machines will operate.
