Question for the tech savvy

Post by BOOPSAHOY »

I am thinking of getting a tablet but I need one that will use flash or has it already installed so I can play games here and elsewhere. So the Ipad is out.  Im looking at:

Samsung Galaxy $499 10.1 screen

Motorola Xoom $499 10.1 screen

Acer Iconia $499 10.1 screen

Anyone have any of these or have any suggestions?

Thanks
Boop

I have an HP Notebook with Windows 7 and IE8 that I use as my 2nd PC. It works great - play on this site all the time. The screen image, obviously, is smaller than a laptop, so things like VP Chat are a little more challenging. Long battery life, built-in webcam, large disk space.  I find that I am able to do certain things, like update my golf GPS, easier on that one than on my primary computer running Windows XP Professional. Wireless is great, but the processor is a little slow, so you can't multi-task very well. Not sure about price (a casino gift ).

If you are going to be using a wireless router, make sure that you use encryption.

I have a love/hate relationship with our ASUS net book. It measures approx 7 x 10" and weighs a tad over 3#. NICE SIZE! Hubby bought it at Best Buy and the case at Meijers. We especially enjoy it on vacations and at airports when flights are delayed. Harrah's properties and Windsor Caesars charge approx $12-14 for 24 hour use. Do not ask what we think of that! I play VP and type really fast and the net book tends to slow me down. I am happy that hubby enjoys using it while watching the big screen in the family room leaving me to multitask on kitchen puter and laundry room.

I love mine. Marie it weighs much less than 3 lbs and VP.com works great on it!

Depending on the Wireless router, it should tell you during installation how to set encryption. The most common is called WEP, where you set a "key" that needs to be matched by any device trying to use your home network, such as your new notebook. If you hook to your router with a cable, you do not need the key on your device.
Good luck..
