MGM Vegas slot machine hasn't paid jackpot ...

Post by marie meijer »

"Vegas Gamblers Keep Vigil on Aging Slot Machine They Expect to Pay Off Millions" WSJ by Rob Copeland 2-6-2014. . http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/ ... ts?page=26 The jackpot is now over $2M. This machine has not paid a jackpot in almost two decades! IMHO there are two types of gamblers: those who will risk playing this machine and those who won't. Personally, I am among the latter. I wonder how many other machines at various casinos have this same dismal history and we have not seen the statistics or no one kept track and shared stats with us!

Yeah, I saw that article, and yes, I WILL play it (though not very long) when in Vegas next week.

There is a similar machine @ Caesars LV, a Red-White-Blue 3-coin $1, which was part of a progressive bank that was taken out. The one remaining machine, I am told, has to stay in play until someone hits the jackpot, which was about $750k if I recall. I always give that one a try too - you never know.

T Y Billy, interesting post! G L in Vegas. Report exciting events back to us! A neighbor had taken an adult ed. course in gaming. She was told how the slots work to our disadvantage. IE. on a three wheel slot, say the jackpot would be three reels registering 4X. TWO reels may have multiples of 4X but a third reel would only have one. This would decrease our chances of hitting the jackpot of three 4X. HOW would we even know if that third reel had NO 4X! Our suspicions would mount when we never saw a 4X on a reel but we lack the means of proof! I am convinced at times that I find VP machines with only three aces! In a perfect world there would be at least FOUR aces per machine!

I'll be trying it next week!

From some of the data I have seen, I am thinking there is about a 2.85% chance that a "fair" machine would have not hit the jackpot yet.

And billyjoe, when are you gonna be there, I'll be there from the 12th to the 18th. Impromptu meet up perhaps?

On one of my trips to Mohegan Sun last year, a two seater regular slot penny machine hit the 2.4m jackpot just as I was walking by it. You just never know. The lady playing had no idea what happened. In less than 2 minutes, the area around the machine was roped off with the usual yellow tape. Good luck vman. Your few minutes of play could just be the right ones.

I hope so! Current plans with regard to this machine:

Turn $30 into $100+
Or play 100 spins
Or bust trying.

Hopefully the last one doesn't happen.

I arrive on 12th, leave on the 17th, staying at Caesers. The Eagles concert Saturday night, and golf during the day Thursday and Friday. Other than that, it will be gaming and spa for me.

Let me know what day/time/location would work for you, and we can make it happen. I will wear my VP.Com hat so you can recognize me.

Um, I'm thinking Wed. or Thurs. night would be best. We'll be at Mirage for those dates. My g/f will probably tag along unless she gets bored and runs off to a slot machine...lol

As for actual time or date, that could be either one, but I might be leaning toward Thursday. I am thinking I would probably want it to be either earlier evening, or somewhat late because we casino hop and Caesars would probably be either at the beginning or end of a "south" loop for us. If you wanted to move your play for the day to another CET property we could meet at a different one too.

But in my head I am thinking Thursday like this: Leave Mirage late afternoon heading South to Cosmo and back and making Caesars one of our last stops. I have never been in Bellagio/CP in the evening I think, so I really should for once... When do you usually stay in the casino until? You don't quit before 10pm, right? I figure Thurs. night would be better because hopefully we'll have at least one good hit to talk about. Or at the least you can tell me how your golf round went.

But if Caesars is okay for you, you need to tell me where to actually meet though. I haven't even played a single hand of VP there in 8 trips and I even really dunno where the VP is...yikes!
