Why I need to take blood pressure medication

Post by olds442jetaway »

Besides the normal things that life throws your way, these little pet peeves of mine just add to stress and aggravation....any additions welcome...Note most of these relate to the casino and or driving. As you all know, a good part of my time is spent on both.
Cigar smokers with no regard for those around them. This has to be number 1...
Drivers who insist on keeping their high beams on while in back of you...Note, I usually let them go by and then get in back of them and give them a little of their own medicine...
Drivers who refuse to get out of the left lane on the highway on a two lane road and are only going about 50 mph...It doesn't help that in Ct. there is no passing on the right allowed on a two lane highway. Of course everyone passes them anyway....
Pokey walkers who walk 5 or 6 abreast in the casino taking up the entire walking area...It doesn't help that my normal walk is just shy of a run.
Idiot patrons who leave a giant mess at their table in the lounge instead of cleaning up a little for the next folks or the servers....
Women screamers who shriek so loudly when they hit something that it actually hurts your ears..Even worse when there are a group of them and they do this even when they hit for a buck or two. They also do it at table games where the people next to them can't escape.
Weavers constantly in and out of the lanes on the highway getting nowhere and cutting off other drivers. I need to design a video game for them. My idea is to have a WW1 type biplane machine gun mounted on the hood of your car and of course you blow them away in the game with great sound effects. Note that most of these idiots will be driving BMWs, beat up red neck pickups that are falling apart, commercial vans, or Honda ricers. I have actually seen a few accidents caused by them....
People driving around the casino speeding in scooters with no regard for the walkers. They have a special place in my video game as well...
Idiots who leave their machines for the next vicitm covered in cigarette ashes. They also usually drop the hot ashes on the casino rug....
Also a couple not driving or casino related...Parents with children who talk, scream, or otherwise behave badly in church and the parents refuse to take them to the crying room. I even saw the priest read one of them out once...GOOD!!!....
Parents who let their children run wild in the department store, which is usually Walmart. They let them take toys off the shelves and tear things up, litter the floor, run wildly up and down the aisles, and so on. Most of them probably never should have been parents in the
first place....
NFl or NBA players who act like complete idiots after making a successful play...That is why I follow mostly WNBA basketball whose players keep this stuff to a minimum....
There are more, but you folks can add your own. I just had to pop another med after typing this...Finally watch out while driving on full moon nights. This is absolutely true. It really brings out the crazies.

+1    awesome thread......I wish more people here would type things like this, it is really a good read and helps you get to know the person on the other side of the internet connection a little better!     Of course, with a couple posters, I already know more than I want to but still you cannot exclude anyone from participating, and this will give more fuel/fodder to the flame wars.......So here I go adding more fodder to my erstwhile haters' rusty cannons:-- I agree with the cigar comment, the problem is simply these modern day Stogies (a tribute to the spirit of EXCESS and "I-don't-give-a-flying-flip-about-anyone's-enjoyment-but-my-own" attitude of the wall street/republican niche and all the wannabe's for that niche)  are TOO overwhelming and have the ability to stink up an entire casino floor!  Given the number of odors already on a typical casino floor (cigarettes, coffee, cologne, body odor -or worse- and various food stuffs) that is saying a lot......-- I no longer am able to drive myself, but I am still an observant passenger, and I cannot stand text and cell phone talkers STILL, in this day and age of awaremess, using these devices while operating a vehicle.    DUMB DUMB DUMB, and another candidate for the "I-don't-give-a-crap etc etc" award for the worst of society.....If you want an effective law or deterrent, make the penalties for cell phone use while driving the same as DUI / DWI .....that should cure all but the cosmically clueless.--  Totally agree with the POKEY walkers, especially in casinos.....like you, I move along very fast, much faster than most ambulatory people, and when I get behind a few people (sometimes it only takes one or two if they are BIG enough in the girth category and the casino is especially cramped) who HAVE to look at everything along the way, I end up having to control my arm thrusts on my wheels to the point it almost hurts!-- People on scooters also give me trouble and pause when they either do not know how to operate their machine (this often happens with elderly people who just recently started operating the scooter.....I find most of these elderly people to be very nice, but the fact that they do not comprehend their mobility device is very DANGEROUS to themselves as well as other people.....I have seen two (2) "accidents" so far this year in AC casinos that involved an elderly scooter pilot either crashing into a wall or failing to properly "park" the scooter before dismounting it and having the thing continue moving and causing them to fall....it is painful to watch it happen right in front of you and nothing you can do in time to stop it or help except scream "Someone dial 911!!"Of course, you also have some scooter drivers (primarily younger-ish disabled people) who think they have the right of way to EVERYTHING, in ANY situation, and drive their scooters like there is NO ONE else around.   They weasel their way to the front of EVERY line thinking they "deserve it", all the while here I am in my actual wheelchair, truly disabled, and I simply accept my place in line no matter what, even if I am entitled to go to the front such as when boarding a bus or airplane......of course, my tactic is to be EARLY for whenever I travel so I wind up at or near the front via legitimate means.-- This is one that some of you who DO use a scooter responsibly, or perhaps you use a wheelchair also, or perhaps you are just a normal everyday pedestrian in a casino or mall or sidewalk......you are walking or moving or wheeling along with people coming the opposite direction towards you.....except they are not WATCHING where they are going (typically gawking at something to the side, or they are reading or texting while walking) and they do not see you and, unless you make a last second drastic move to avoid them, they would crash right into you, again with injury potential!    I want to slap these idiots silly when it happens and then they give me a look like "What!?!?!   What's your problem???"   grrrrr   A little less dangerous but still annoying is the polar opposite of this.....people oncoming towards me who see me wheeling towards them, who then "PANIC" and either start to overeact towards me as if I myself am about to plow into them or something, and they just FREEZE and wear a look of terror on their face!   Or they do the "dance" where they go left just as I go left, then we both go right, then left, then right....then.....AHHHHH!!!  Stop!!!     Hey buddy, just keep walking normal and let ME avoid you okay??    My disability is not contagious, you need not fear coming within 5 feet of me, it is MY problem, I will deal withit, okay?!?!?!    yeeesh--  My biggst pet peeve though, is still, the sad, sorry tale of woe that has befallen Atlantic City and continues to bedevil this once proud destination, and it really could (and should) be a AWESOME, nice, fun place to spend time.....everything that is wrong with AC that need not be wrong. including whatever 9and I mean  WHATEVER) they do to the video poker to make it statistically SOOOOO different than "normal" VP in places like Vegas or Reno.    sorry, just had to throw that in there......

Hmmmm   There are a few I'll keep to myself; but in the last few months, the biggest culprit would be opening my ComEd bill. Bring on the Fall, please....

Some of those electric bills are now approaching our vp losses. Up north here, the summer doesn't effect us much on the bill especially with the sea breeze just down the street. We recently had about a 30% increase though for no reason other than the electric companies were granted rate hikes to pay for stuff like cleanup expenses after Sandy etc. If you take out taxes and insurance payments out of our lives, one could play dollars all the time and maybe even venture into the High Limit room sometimes. Just kidding of course, but those two items are the largest budget busters of all.

Interesting post DB. Nice to get a viewpoint from " where you sit and roll. " Also I think if people would just walk to the right like were taught when we were young and in school, a lot of the casino traffic problems could be avoided. Unfortunately, the way casinos are arranged and other things on peoples' minds don't help the situation. I have also noticed that foreigners in the casino rarely walk to the right. Maybe in their country that is of no concern. Speaking of walking, and a little off topic, the current refugee situation that just hit the news came out of nowhere. I am following it with quite a bit of interest and concern being that our family goes back on my dad's side to Hungary, Austria, and Germany.

only 'olds' could get away with starting such a politically incorrect thread, i love it;  -what the heck is with guys wearing pants half way down their butt, with their underwear sticking out? they look like idiots.-women who wear low cut tops and/or super short skirts and don't expect guys to look. i can't help i am a dirty old man.-folks who play 2 machines at a time, when the casino is crowded. -guys who use the men's room and don't wash their hands.  and outside the casino, those who use the drive in teller, don't know their account number, don't have required slips, don't have a pen and decide to do their monthly banking. get your butt out of the car and go inside. dive in tellers are for quick, prepared banking.

Good ones Notes. I have to add to the didn't wash hands comment.... the idiots I see every session that come into the men's room which is non smoking with a lit cigarette, cell phone in one hand at the urinal, you know what in the other, and proceed to walk right out and bypass the sink.
For them, we need something I saw years ago either in a cartoon or on a TV show. A huge Neon sign with lights and buzzers. Upon their exit, everything goes off and security escorts them back in to take care of business the correct way!

Bag check employees at casino hotels who never take the strong string off my bag upon return. So I must run to borrow scissors/knife or risk breaking the handle by tearing it off.

Can't beat those little Swiss Army knives for stuff like that. Never without one myself.
