kjohn, I totally forgot about  Class II machines.  Luckily SM and the others were able to get the correct info to you. Sorry.

No problem Faygo.  Probably most people would like to forget about them...There's still a question on the class III...I read a lot about the regulations and OVERSIGHT of the machines in OK....and it's not great...so some hanky panky can take place and no one is the wiser....so I'll just take our direct flight to Vegas ever month or so and enjoy the good free food and comp room and let the Indians scalp someone else....I don't think that's politically correct....

I don't know that the Indian tribes are the ones to be held responsible. Most, as I understand it, operate under a state compact that dictates the hold percentage to maximize the revenue the state gets. As an example, the Seminoles in Florida fought long and hard to get Class III machines. Finally , because the State failed to act they came under the Federal regulations and they allowed the Seminoles to have Class III machines or as they proudly advertise, Vegas style.

I have seen both Class II and Class III machines in Oklahoma. They've only recently (past two years) brought in the Class III machines to the casinos I've visited down there. But I have to admit that when they went to 7:5 and 6:5 on DDB for the nickel machines, I pretty much quit watching them.

The Class II were all tied to BINGO as far as I know. I would think that they would have to disclose the class on the machines in some manner...but I don't think they do.

I've asked floor people and they get that deer in the headlights look....either they are ignorant of the "classes" or they are pretending ignorance.

I can with fair certainty ascertain that the Video Poker at KAW in Newkirk, Oklahoma are Class III, but the pay tables are pretty bad now. I played them when they were 9:6 DDB but that no longer exists.

About the only time I play Blackjack in Oklahoma is when they have promotions for which they waive the "ante". Paying $.50 a hand to play blackjack is worse than 6:5 Video Poker!

totally agree with you about the collections. what a rip-off!

up until a few years back, there were 2 indian casinos here in so cal that charged a collection. one of them actually charged $1 per hand if you bet $25 or more.

they made it seem reasonable by offering these ridiculous jackpot payouts that no one rarely (or ever) gets, like: 3 naturals in a row pays $100 or a 7-card 21 pays $300

Yes. Kaw in Newkirk has a couple of them. They are the Animated machines that allow 5 people to play at once. Actually, the table rules on the games are not too bad. I'm not sure what the "pen" is simulated to be, but they definitely are not suffeling after each hand...or at least I don't recall it being that way. I think the "dealer" hits soft 17. You can double on any first two cards and I think you can resplit aces. It is 3:2. Bets I think are $1 to $100 or something like that. Most of them have some sort of "bonus" game associated that has to do with getting an ACE on YOUR first card...can't remember the details. I think they had a Royal Match bonus on one of the machines too.

Considering that the minimum ante is $.50 per hundred bet per hand, the machines are a very good option. No ante on them!
