Re: dealt 4 cards to the royal flush
"On further review" here are some correct, revised probabilities:
You'll draw a RF to two suited Broadway cards overall once in 67,731 hands.
Ditto to one RF card once every 267,770.
Overall, one RF every 23,081.
Not very far off. What complicates matters is double-counting on hands like AJThKQs or AsKhQdJc5h...

In my 20 plus years of playing VP, I've rarely been dealt 4 to the Royal. When it does happen, I'm usually playing a single hand DDB or Triple Play DDB.

I remember when we went to Smith's here in Las Vegas and was playing Video Porker. I had dealt me 4 cards to the royal flash. And then I hit RF. The lady pay me, but I still had around $135 to play off. The wife wanted me to cash out. But I said NO. 15 minutes later I hit another RF. That was the only time I got away from saying no to her.

If you've played very much video poker at all, in all likelihood you've averaged a dealt four to the royal once every 2700-2800 deals, just like everyone else.

I see people all around me getting 4 dealt but not hitting.

the crapload of stats I collected over the years showed the following:In Nevada Casinos (Vegas and Reno), from late 1998 thru 2011, I average four to a royal about once every 3,150 hands, so a little less than normal but still within a reasonable tolerance.in AC, from 2009 until about 6 months ago when I stopped caring and keeping detailed and accurate stats, I actually averaged four to a royal once every 2,980 hands, better than Vegas but still less than normal. And dont ask me how often I hit these the royal because for the most part I never did.I have far MORE royals of the 2 or 3 to a royal than all others combined....go figure

After 15 times 4 to the royal off the deal this month, got one! I know I know Billyjoe 1 in 47 I got it I GET IT! I am getting 4 dealt to me about every 800 hands. Way sooner then the 1 in 2700. This has been the norm now for over a year. All but one royal this year for me came with 4 off the deal. The other was dealt. Later in the day a women sitting next to me holds 2 cards and hits, I don't get it I hold 2 and 3 all day long month after month, but some day I hope it comes my way!
