Re: Can VP machines be programmed for low return?
Another thing to think about is the odds of drawing ANY card holding 4RF is 1 in 47. So, the 2S or 5D is also 1 in 47. It might help to realize that whatever card comes up had an equal chance as the 5th RF card. So, drawing to a 1 in 47 chance isn't really all that difficult.
I would consider a 2.13% chance of hitting a particular card in one draw as pretty difficult.
Not for me. I hit it every time I hold 4RF. Just not always the 1 in 47 chance I wanted.

I agree with you. There is a multitude of ways the machines can cheat you and still follow the RNG rules. In fact, if the machines are classified as "slot machines", they don't have to conform to the pay table shown. The can have a return rate of 80% .I'm convinced that they are using variable programming at the very least. They don't have to have a tech go to each machine to mess with DIP switches. All modern machines are networked...they can change aspects of the programming (payouts, whatever) remotely. They say they don't...I don't believe it.I know what random number generated play feels like. It is obvious that there is more going on (at the Indian casinos in San Diego County.)

If they did change the return it would be in violation of the state regulations (in most states) and they could lose their license. Not a good trade-off for a casino when the vast majority of machines are making money legally.
BTW, exactly what does RNG generated play "feel like"?

I dont know for sure but then again who really does but I agree with the Shadowman. Why would ANY casino cheat you. They will take 1 to 5 cents of every dollar put into a machine over the long run. And yes rduke222 what does it FEEL like.

I know this question wasn't meant for me but I'll give my answer as to what RNG generated play fells like. Quite simply, understanding and accepting, over long periods of play we all be subjected to both the good and the bad the game has to offer. After 15 years of playing at one casino I allowed myself (because of location) to experience what does not feel like RNG generated play, I play only at the one I trust now. To me RNG generated play feels like not having to ask or wonder which is where I was before and am at once again.

I play VP and slots at the Hollywood and Belterra casinos in Southern IN. It is in my opinion that all of the machines (slots and VP) are remotely controlled of loose or tight plays. If you listen to the sounds of the casino, you can hear the roar of machines picking up and hitting more often then it will quiet down and you will not be able to hit your butt with both hands. I imagine a zoned water sprinkler system, one zone kicks in for a few seconds, then as it slows back down, the next zone picks up. Like I said, it's only my opinion, but I think the casinos have control over this.

Welcome to the forum. My guess is you may be hearing a cooling fan come on. I often play the same "older" machine for hours and often after a few hours of constant play or hitting the keys to quickly it will get slower, freeze up until the fan comes on. In a few minutes it cools down and I"m at it again. Like shadowman says, "why would a casino risk losing it license?" They make enough money including off VP from normal play.

The real question is "Why would an Indian Casino want to rig a video poker machine when the casino's cut is posted right there in front of you?" In Florida, most all the Video Poker machines are controlled by the Indians. There are no (as in zero) positive expectation games in our State and almost no one outside of a few pros in Vegas can play at 100% anyway. I play at the Indian Hard Rocks every week. I only play Video Poker and won't go near one of their regular slots. I play Bonus Poker because it's the best paying .25 game in the casino. It's a 98% game with perfect play. 4-of-Kinds average about one every 400 hands, just like in Vegas. Royals happen all the time and at about the regular 40K frequency. You have to lose often so you can win sometimes. It's that simple and there's no conspiracy afoot. I was sitting next to a guy a few months ago that asked me when the casino was going to throw the switch and let us win for a while? I asked him if he actually thought that was happening and he told me his brother-in-law (or somebody) worked in a casino and that he told him they have such a switch. Wow...
