Re: dealt 4 cards to the royal flush

Another trip Sunday, after 8 hours of play 3 times 4 to the royal off the deal no luck. That's 14 times now in the last 3 trips. will keep posting till my ship comes in! lol

Right now, I'm at 27 consecutive misses in the casino. I did connect on a one card draw in late March, that one after 58 misses in a row.

If I include the 50 whiffs in the weekly contest that I mentioned a few posts ago, I'm currently at 77.

So, 14 doesn't strike me as very significant. In fact, going 14 consecutive one card draws without hitting has a 74% probability.

the odds are 46-1 so a streak of 77 misses is not that uncommon

I'd suggest just playing VP as a hobby unless you're playing full pay deuces wild, even then its variance can still be a killer.  It seems that when you want the RF the most you won't get it.  Good luck to you though.

Hobby?  I decribe my obsession with Video Poker to my friends that way and they always look at me funny.   It is possible to play less than 100% video poker, have fun and not loose your shirt.  If you play very low denominations very well and take advantage of opportunites, it's not that bad.  I've taken my losses from $500 to $1000 a month down to almost even. I'm having just as much fun, but the casino isn't.

Playing short coin, I play a lot more hands than most recreational players.  It seems like I draw 4 to a Royal at least once every couple of hours and don't connect on most.  I've been delt 3 royals in 10 years and they were all wonderful, even the $62.50 ones...

Question for everyone, when u get dealt 4 to the Royal, what do u do before u hit the draw button? Pray, make the sign of the cross, take a deep breath, treat it like any other hand?

First, I make sure I've held the correct four cards. Then, I usually mutter to myself: "Here we go again".

I hold the 4 to the royal then I stop for a second and think "WWBJD" (what would billyjoe do), pray to the god of whatever fifth card I need, get the hottest woman I can track down to press the draw button for me and then I get woke up by my alarm clock.

Make certain I'm holding the right four cards, point to the card I'm tossing, call the card I need and hit Deal. I got four to the royal once playing short coin and it nearly made me sick; I was glad I didn't hit it. I don't play short coin any more.

I never pray for anything gambling related. I do pray for a safe trip home and to keep my folks safe while I'm away. As for the cards.....with my record, I just assume I'm not going to connect. I actually like to get dealt 3 to a Royal better and have connected more times that way. Haven't had a dealt one in more years than I can remember. It is most exciting though if I am playing double down stud and get dealt 4. That is good for 5k for a 5 quarter bet. I have hit two and both were in 2001 a couple of months apart on the same machine. They yanked it out the week following my second hit.
