To those who have made significant money with VP: What do you do?

Why do you play video poker? What is your favorite game and why?

"Gambling is not a game between you and the casino. It's a game between you and the little man inside of you that wants it all! Not just all the money, but the drapes and the chandeliers too!"
That definitely wins "Post of the Day! :-D

This notion that video poker pros all come from wealthy families is really bonkers.

Bonkers is a pretty apt description of much of the discourse here.

A big ditto to Tech58's comment..... I don't think we want to get into a discussion about why casinos would allow a consistent and very public big winner to continue to play, much less receive regular top-notch mailers. Let's not go there, guys.....

For players who are either VP pros, or have significant long term positive results: What are the ways to do so?

You do know I post a blog every Tuesday on bobdancer.com and have done so for more than a decade, don't you?

A significant percentage of those blogs address precisely what you are asking about.

I find this an interesting comment. It begs some questions. What is the definition of a "video poker professional"? Is it someone who plays VP for their sole livelihood? Someone who lives a nice lifestyle from VP or someone who supplements their income from other sources ? Is someone who plays quarter VP and nets a small profit a professional?

Unless you live in a box under an overpass, I assume you must net at least $30K a year to live. To make $30K consistently playing VP, how much of a bankroll do you need? How do you get that bankroll? You may not have been born rich, but you weren't on food stamps either. Video poker requires money to play. This money must be disposable or the slightest downturn will bust you.

A poor kid growing up in a project can make himself wealthy through sports. The NFL and NBA is full of these stories. The idea that you can become rich through video poker without being rich in the first place is not believable. I guess that depends on your definition of rich. Either way, VP professional is not a career choice for bag ladies.

I guess that means you find my "Million Dollar Video Poker" autobiography unbelievable.

Although I did change some names in their to protect the anonymity of certain players and casino employees, the story itself it quite true --- whether FP believes it or not
