I noticed that in your most recent post you didn't have one capital letter. Strange...

I noticed that in your most recent post you didn't have one capital letter. Strange...
not as strange as you (a) noticing such things, and (b) feeling compelled to plop such dreck in the middle of what was actually a intelligent and interesting dialogue.    Your hat with the propeller and your paddle ball must be broken or missing.......  Your posts either follow one of two veins: You either post some simplistic one line "nice job" or "way to go" to some other poster (except me) regarding their pics or account of a recent trip where they actually won something (but said nothing of LOSING)..... .....or you post some stupid comment after my posts trying to either insult me or bait me, or both.   Its a free country and  (as you emphasize ad nauseaum) an OPEN forum so keep doing it, but I'm not going to just let it stand and/or not point out your hypocrisy.     if this is you "shooting fish in a barrel", or you "not being threatened or challenged by me" (whatever the fark that means), then you really do need to get a paddleball and a hat with a propeller. I dont like saying these things because for all I know, you really might be as crazy or ill as many of your posts indicate.   If that is the case, get a note from your doctor and I will apologize......

  It's simple math; 313,070 that I like and 1 that I don't, as of 12/26/13.

Your first entry post into this topic was made 12/20/13. You deftly and masterfully inserted views that were totally off topic, i.e. political name calling and comments about the shrinking labor force. Now youre going to rebut that your comment about the shrinking labor force is partially due to the use of server based software to eliminate slot tech jobs in casinos but as for your comedic name calling of democrats and republicans along with mentioning socialism, really don't belong here. For those may I suggest that you contact Hannity, Mahr, Limbaugh, or any number of others.

As for you not receiving an atta boy from me when you post winning trips or sessions its because you don't mention any. If it helps you sleep easier I will now give you a (security) blanket atta boy for every winning gambling trip or session that you post here in the forum. This blanket atta boy has no expiration date and comes with no strings attached.

The house I grew up in had a 2 story living room and we could really whack that paddleball high without fear of striking the ceiling. As for the propeller hat; I'm having a difficult time finding one that will elevate me to your level.

Beany and Cecil gave me one I think in 1952. With that one you could travel to any star system of your choosing. I looked around, but it must have disappeared years ago along with my 1952 Ted Williams baseball card. Ct. casinos keeping under wraps just what their long term vp strategy is. I will find out eventually. They are spending tons of $ on all kinds of interactive penny machines with I am sure very high house percentages. Probably doesn't bode well long term for vp.

52 williams!!   oh mercy that's a prize, if you truly lost it my condolences......I was lucky enough to be an avid baseball card collector starting in 1980 and continuing through 1991, before they stagnated and eventually declined.   But from 1980 until 1990 baseball cards, all years prior to 1980, were valuable, good investments, outperforming everything except real estate and certain stocks. I had a complete topps 1954 set, a 1956 set, 1957 set and everyyear from 1959 until 1980, I just could not complete the 1958! Paid for my first year at harvard, back then it was ....ahem, "ONLY" 18 grand a year......Hi,  Jack!  my advice, stay away from Foxwoods and Mohegan, plan a trip out to Vegas, or even the Borgata doan in AC, just avoid the boardwalk casinos unless you just want to eat and shop there.

Stop by the Vegas Pawn Shop (from the "Pawn Stars" TV show) next month when you are there. Maybe Rick can help you complete the set.

I collected the cards just to trade with other kids on the block and of course we scaled them against the wall to win some from the other kids too. Hmmmmm....even was gambling back then I guess. This would have been around 1956-1960. Never scaled that Ted card though. It got a little tattered showing it off to the other kids. I guess mom threw it out at some point. They were all in an old shoe box.

Mohegan vp has been a little better lately. I have been using a way scaled down Martingale method I developed and have had a few consecutive break even or better trips and a hand pay today. Just got in actually. In general though, everyone loses at both Ct. casinos. I think this is a nationwide trend however. Also had a rare treat today in the lounge. Lobster salad whith big chunks of claws too and just a little mayo. That won't last too long I'm sure....then back to sliders or franks and beans... Vegas trip planned at some point. Maybe Borgata sooner. Been to Tahoe. Drove actually and liked Harrahs. That was back in 96 though. Aruba is lots of fun too, but they have tightened up on paytables quite a bit and it is getting very expensive to travel to.

Ha!   I was about 5-10 years too early to get involved in Card Counting at BJ as a way to earn big bucks.......I graduated in 1992, and if you saw the movie "21", about the M.I.T. card counting team, then you know the success those kids had until they were busted! M.I.T. is right next door to Harvard in Cambridge, MA, and at one point the counting ring actually tried to recruit a few Hah-vahd people to join, something the movie neglects to cover for some reason......I would have loved such a chance, and if they had done this when I was in school in the period from 1988-1992, before computers and technology had put the breaks on a lot of casino sharks and counting teams, I might have made out!     But the cost of college educations these days is outrageous, especially at Ivy League bastions of learning......My four years at Harvard cost a total of almost 80 grand but if you want to send your kid there today, you are looking at almost a 200K investment!    Thats a lot of baseball cards and counting cards!    Is it worth it?    Harvard, yes, Yale, yes.....Princeton?   maybe    the other Ivy leagues?   depends on what field of study you want to pursue. Billyjoe, where did you go to school?    You are smart enough to have gone to MIT or Harvard......you can tell a Harvard man, but you cannot tell him much!

Merry Christmas DB...just catching up on some reading here before the day gets a little hectic. Funny you mentioned Yale in your post. Yale is almost in my back yard. The buildings are beautiful. I will never know if it was a mistake or not, but I turned down Yale (got accepted) for UCONN. Had visions of being another Jaques Cousteau. Was supposed to go to Woods Hole Mass. and study up there instead of on campus. The short version is I stayed on campus. Anyway, education in my view is what you make of it whether it be what is learned on the street, in trades, or in the best institutions. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all...Olds...

The casinos have now thwarted all card counting at BlackJack with their single shuffled deck machines.
The new machines pops up a shuffled, 52 card deck for each hand of BJ, after your bet is made, so there is nothing to do but play a basic strategy on hitting or standing. Tougher to find even a 4 or 5 deck shoe anymore.

Interestingly, you can get a single-deck BJ table on a cruise ship casino where, depending on the number of players at the table, you may get 3 or 4 deals between shuffles. The best approach is to play off-hours, when it's slow, and play heads-up with the dealer, playing 2 or 3 hands. This gives you the best card counting opportunity.
