Re: dealt 4 cards to the royal flush

Post by BillyJoe »

Got in a discussion about Royal Flushes with a guy in Biloxi. I told him that if you are dealt 4 to a Royal, the odds were 1 in 47 of getting the draw. He disagreed. He said the odds were much higher. If you take a deck of cards and pick 4 to the royal, there are only 48 cards left. Since 1 in 47 odds. He still disagreed.

Actually, 47 cards left, since your 4 to the royal also had another card on the deal that you would discard.

But, hey, that's Mississippi. I go there about once a month. It is not hard to find folks there that will argue with a logical example.

Tada!

Finally, after 303 consecutive misses on one card draws for a royal on this site, I caught one last night playing Dream Card in the weekly contest.

Ouch...times 4

True, but all the 4 to a Royals I have had in the last 40 months or so and never hitting; I can't feel too sad. Lately I'm on a 4 to Royal drought too. I don't think I've had one since Vegas in February, where I got 3...doh.

Edit: May have got one more in St. Louis after the Feb. trip. My memory definitely sucks. But I still feel I'm at least one cycle (1 in 2765) without one.

And please God, quit playing that crap 94.82% deuces game for 20 dimes!!!! You have 99.96% DDB for quarters at your home casino for chrissake!!!

DDB sucks I can't hit a 4 of a kind on them. Yesterday on all games I had 80 times 3 off the deal and can't hit , I can hit four deuces in DW but DDB forget it. BTW them DDB are gone from  them bar tops all have star poker now. The only wheel poker in the state is now gone, there was 2 super times pay  with JOB on them gone now. They are in a mode to take all good pays out of there. Changing the whole gaming floor the last 6 months.

This is the eerily similar crap that I see in places like Resorts in AC......ALL their video poker machines have 8/5 Bonus poker (99.17%) while also putting the same awful Deuces Wild game you show in your pics that vman points out is 94%!!!!   And yet when you play the better game (BP) you cannot hit squat, but if you give in and play the horrible deuces game, lo and behold something good falls your way......I've seen this consistently play out over 5 years, its maddening.....but hey, I know......it is just me being unlucky.....no way no how is AC video poker set up the way I used to think, where casinos could "set" their video poker machines to do things like deal no value hands consistently at 65-70% when the true "random" average for dud hands should be 55%.   No way would the machines ever be "screwed with".....cannot happen......ever.But anyhooooo, where or what is the 99.96% DDB game that Vman mentions in his post?    what casino has this??????

Vpfree says it's at soaring eagle in Michigan, but that's a dated entry and wildman says it's not there anymore. I'm not surprised. Many casinos have yanked 40/10/6 DDB in the last couple of years.

All of the Royals I have seen lately at Mohegan Sun have been on machines I would never play due to the paytables. They have some 94-95% Deuces wild games thrown in there too. I have also seen way more Aces quads, 5 of a kind on joker kings games, and quads of 3s and 4s on those low paytable machines. Nobody seems to be hitting much on the nearly full pay machines that pay no points.
