Search for a Royal Quad:Soaring Eagle

Post by davidearl »

I drive a expeditor cargo van (emergency freight). This takes me to many casinos, mostly in the midwest. My favorite machine is the 50/100 play machines. My favorite vidio poker game is Quick Quads Triple double bonus. This is about my road trips searching for Quads that pay the same as a Royal Flush.
I picked up a load in Oscoda MI on Saturday, going to Kansas City to be delivered Sunday afternoon. This gave me time to stop at 2 or 3 casinos on the way. First stop is Soaring Eagle, as I have $20 freeplay. My wife, sister in law, and I also get $20 a month for food at the casino. We used to eat at the buffet with our food coupon until I suggested getting sandwiches at the deli would feed all three of us with one food coupon, so that's what we do now. We also get points on our card, which can be downloaded to a machine in $5 and up amounts. We also get cash on our  cards to be used for food, gifts, or rooms etc. $1 gets 1 point on video poker, 2 on slots. 1000 points is worth $1 (0.1%), comps about .5%. 16000 points per 6 months (Jan 1st-June 30th and July 1st-Dec 31st) gets a gold card and $20 a week.

I head for the 50 play machines. There are 4 in the main casino and 2 across the road at the old casino, called the slot palace. the Slot Palace is only open 8am Wednesday thru 3am Monday. There is no royal quad on these machines, so I play Dbl dbl bonus. The payouts are pretty good.

For you barely legals, as this casino in operated on the Chippewa Indian Reservation, you can play casino games at age 18. You can't drink, though. So practice your video poker and enroll at CMU!

Great report on Soaring Eagle, davidearl! Wins beat the alternative! My royals there have been with way too many years in between. I see part of my problem! We often stop there for two hours or less en route to Turtle Creek near Traverse City or Little River at Manistee, when I am playing cautiously and low to conserve bank roll. We might stop briefly on the return trip if we still have bankroll/time/interest and can avoid peak and construction times on I 75! Good point about those food comps stretching further at the deli! Their huge pool is sensational! It was interesting to try their continuous lap pool for a few minutes to get that out of my system! It has a switch to produce a strong current for swimming in place and is more for serious training. It's a fenced/gated/narrow rectangular pool primarily designed for one person at a time. We were staying there when we used that pool. However, often no one was manning the desk and maybe one can use the pool if not an over night guest. At Windsor, Canada, the room key is required  to enter the locker rooms, pool, and exercise room.Actually, I hit my first royal at Soaring Eagle in spades, many moons ago and was thrilled beyond words. My husband would not have understood WHY I was playing there that day when we had to be in that area the next weekend. SO, I contained my enthusiasm and pretended I won that royal the next weekend. (I know, don go there, good for a shrink session! ) I am wiser now and do not always inform hubby when I hit a royal. He would expect me not only to take it home but to either share, pay bills OR still possess it many weeks later! Get ready to duck from hate mail for publicizing the lower age limit for that casino in case some parents were in the dark on that aspect! I liked FireKeepers the one time we were there and I walked out $800 ahead. Looking forward to reading your impressions. The buffet was great and there is a self serve beverage station. A tall, flat waterfall is impressive! No pool or rooms at that time. Pseudo gambling friends that were with us are not interested in heading back. GO GREEN!

PS. Other times, not often enough, hubby serves as my banker/body guard or I toss bengies all over our room when I hit!

Thank you, Marie. I'm less than 50 miles from Soaring Eagle, so have only stayed overnight a couple times. Not a good swimmer so don't know about that moving water pool!     When my wife wants me to share my winnings, I remind her that I never ask her to share her winnings......so far it's worked!

I too liked Firekeepers the first time we went.  Lots of TDB and Pick A Pair (if I get bored).  The hotel being built seems to be pretty large, and coming along quickly.
