Horseshoe Casino in Hammond

Post by jocker »

As anyone else noticed how few the video poker players have been at Horseshoe in Hammond, In.  I wonder why?

I haven't noticed jocker because I haven't been there. It might have something to do with the fact that I think the vp there is lousy.

Hammond is a nice place to play if you're willing to play dollars or higher. They have some the highest paying machines the entire CET empire offers. So theoretically, you're better off shortplaying those instead of playing quarters. But they are just mostly tucked away in the high limit room.

And if you're going there through the week, many video poker areas at numerous casinos are dead.

I also think it doesn't help that Hammond has very few 3/5 Play Super Times Pay (STP) machines (any?) for nickels. I believe they all are 25c or higher, except for Spin Poker w/STP. That will shut out most low rollers because virtually no one will play STP with only one hand (other than myself).

My guess is that people in general have noticed that theyre not even close to breaking even playing vp outside of lv.  The casinos around here have been reporting losses in revenue. People are getting wise and beginning to stop playing and use their $ wisely. It amazes me how fast a casino will pull a bank of 4 playable machines for some new penny theme mach when they already have 2996 penny machines and happy people pissing money away hoping for a jack pot that doesnt exist. like they cant afford a few playable machines . GREED

I go to Hammond quite a bit, and there's normally a decent amount of video poker players. They do have the best paytables you are going to find anywhere close also. 9/7 TDB is wonderful.

I agree with you boozy. Horseshoe-Hammond had a good selection and variety of full pay machines in the high limit room. My favorite were two $1.00 50 plays which had 9/7 TDB as one of the choices.
Note that that high limit room was closed and remodeled the first week of August 2013. Unfortunately, the major "remodeling" consisted of the remodeling of the paytables. A few $5 single plays were the only machines not decimated. What a shame!!!

Did they get rid of 40/10/6 DDB completely? APDW? It would be pathetically sad if 3 CET properties got rid of 40/10/6 DDB in the span of four months.

The only machines unchanged, that I had noticed, were four $5, $10 $25 Game Kings.

Wish I saw this thread before I wasted 4 hrs driving there and back this morning. I did not do an exhaustive search of the HL room. The APDW and 9/6 JOB on the 50 play is gone. now 9/5 JOB.
