Re: Three weeks in Vegas, wins
But I do agree with Bob D. when he asks why in the hell did the guy come to Vegas, especially being a forum member and being as mobile as he portrays, and play a 9/5 game?
Maybe he has read your posts and respected your opinion in the matter. Thanks for showing what a bad idea that was.

Hey, at least it was 9/5 ... I have a friend who lives in Vegas who swears that a 7/5 DDB game is just as good as any other, if it's what he can win on

Thanks for all the smiles...I still enjoy looking at the pictures...Almost as sweet as the grand kids.
For the nay sayers, I would say this.
First, I'm a she not a he and secondly I usually play banks of machines that have repeatedly given me a nice profit over the years, and that I find enjoyable to play.. Keep in mind those were just the plays I photographed ..I cashed out a nice profit on several of those BAD machines hitting Aces repeatedly.
I know the location of all the full pay machine at both RR and GVR and play them on occasion, but I've learned this about those GOOD machines..They are only good if you hit the plays that offer the higher amount.....If not it's pretty much a moot point...
I think a lot of people on this site fall into the same category as I do...We enjoy playing for the pure sake of playing. Just like some people like golf or fishing....I seldom hear golfers or fisherman discuss the cost of the clubs or rods, or fishing boats they use.. Nor does the fishing trip that produces no fish or the 18 holes that was a disaster deter them from what they enjoy doing. So it is with us recreational gamblers...We ENJOY the game and play for the fun of it. That is why some can say they enjoyed loosing. The enjoyment of getting to play the game offsets any losses.....and on some trips, like this one, you actually get to bring enough money home to play with the next time. So I'll enjoy my pictures and the memories of the adrenalin rush when I hit a royal and was dealt the aces with the kicker...If the pay table bothers you so be it...Doesn't bother me a lick...

So youre a longterm winner on shortpay machines? In yo face, Shadowman!
Good for you, but what Bob D. said still rings true: playing the better paytables gives you better opportunity. Ill never do it because I cant, but you can. Smart money says youll be broke and busted sooner than you expect to. I'm supposedly headed there myself.

I got my $20k hit playing a poor paytable, but Im not able to shop around like most folks can. But I do agree with Bob D. when he asks why in the hell did the guy come to Vegas, especially being a forum member and being as mobile as he portrays, and play a 9/5 game? Now I get it Frank! It doesnt matter a whole lot what the paytables are if
you arent a habitual gambler. You get lucky or you dont and thats it. ... Im in Lasvegas.
I was going to say Happy St. Pattys day to you, but something tells
me youre so angry...I'd say that you reached a new low, but I have seen that this is no where near as vile a comment as you are capable of. And it's easier just to post your words and have you argue with yourself. At least you are still mobile enough to hop from one side of an argument to the other, that is if you are able to parlay it into saying something disparaging about someone. And you call shadow angry?as mobile as he portrays? Where does that come from? kjohn has always posted respectfully and appears to be a nice lady (not a he). I have never got an impression that she is trying to "portray" anything except that she enjoys video poker. Not everyone who posts here feels the need to describe themselves to invent a personality, to establish some level of expertise because their words cannot do it for them, or justify a reason for bizarre or contradictory behavior.I do have to chalk up a first for you though. You agreed with Bob Dancer; that must have caused your tongue to bleed (or at least burn your typing fingers!).I can respect Bob's opinion here because he is consistent and he hasn't posted here long enough to realize that this forum is largely composed of a different market segment than vpFree, one that is profitable for those in the industry and possibly more sizable, those who play the game for entertainment rather than for profit. Maybe he feels that he can impart more good by giving advice since that is his job. Of course, we don't really know how long she played while in town, what type of atmosphere she enjoys, the amount of cabfare and search time required to find games with higher pay tables, or other constraints that were involved in her decision-making process, so we really can't solve a utility optimization problem for the decisions that kjohn faced. But we can congratulate her luck, at least for the hands shown. Now I get it Frank! Really? Examine a sample from the incessant argument you had with Frank trying to earlier justify your decision to play a negative game. It appears that your argument is that when you play negative games and win it's brilliant, but when kjohn does it, it somehow shows a deficiency. Superb logic!
Frank, I understand those situations and what the results mean or dont
mean. But my decision to play a less than 100% game was the
right decision before I did it, it was the right thing to do while I was
doing it, and it was definitely the right decision after I did it. Has
nothing to do with addiction or anything else other than what felt right
for me. The fact that you or the wizard wouldnt have done it only means
you would have probably played a greater than 100% game and lost while I
did not. Plus you know what? Ill play that machine again. Note the bolded words. Of course, because you have later decided to attack someone with the "addiction" charge, you have recently claimed that you wouldn't play any machine again, let alone that "lucky" negative one. More hopping from one side to the other! Do you think anyone should take anything you say seriously? And finally, why does kjohn post? This may be difficult for you to understand because some of the terms may be foreign to you. Certainly she may have other reasons, but one possibility is because she was happy with the hits and she has friends here that she wants to share and communicate positively with.Kjohn, congratulations on your hits. I apologize for stepping all over your post this one time or if I have made any mischaracterizations. Of course, there will be more to come in response...I may just step back and let the contradictions continue to fly.

kjohn, nice response. You handled that post with grace and class and better words than I gathered together. My hat's off to you.

kjohn
Your post reminded me of the folks in MI. that would go "Up North" to gather firwood for their wood burning stoves to save on the gas bill. Required $30,000 Pick Up, 2 $500 Chain saws, Lodging and food for a weekend for them and two friends(accomplises), gas for the pick up there and back, co-pay for the emergency room visit after gashing there leg with a miscalculated swing of the axe, a $3000 log splitter to split the logs when they get home, oh, and the fine for harvesting timber on State owned land.
But to hear then tell it, they really saved the money.

There are tons of 9/6 DDB machines in Vegas --- even some 10/6
Why on earth were you playing 9/5? (9/5 Progressive can sometimes be good, but not when the royal only pays 4400 coins).
It's one thing, perhaps, if you live in the middle of nowhere and "must play something." But in Vegas? Even if you're only a recreational player, surely you know your money will last longer on better machines.
And you're proud enough to post pictures of playing on a bad machine and everybody gives you kudos! I guess I just don't understand this forum.
Bob
Bob, I certainly respect your opinion and knowledge. I can't speak for others, but maybe I can enlighten you as to what a recreational player, like myself, is thinking when choosing a VP machine, and associated pay table. I live in FLA, and while I travel quite a bit around the country to various casino locations, I still enjoy Vegas, making about 5-6 trips a year. I feel that I do not play enough hands (4 hours/day, 5 day trip) to abandon other factors in the search for a better pay table. I play almost exclusively at Caesars/Harrah's and MGM properties, so those other factors include how I am treated at those properties, the comps, the tier status, and the playing environment. In Vegas, on the Strip, there are even certain properties within the Caesars/Harrah's and MGM fold that I will not play at, or even enter, because of issues that I have had with them over offers through the years. I can not tell you where the best pay tables are on the strip, much less off of the strip, since I do not choose to use my visit time searching for them. I would rather play a comped round of golf, or take a nap in the Qua Spa.
Everyone likes to leave a winner when they play, but another 5 credits on the occasional flush that I will receive, while certainly welcome, probably will not alter the results of my trip. While in a particular casino, I will always try and locate the best pay-table to play. Beyond that, it is really up to good fortune for me. And, yes, when good fortune smiles on a lovely lady like KJohn, we will applaud.
In a week, I will be in Vegas for the Michael Jordan Celebrity-Am Golf Tournament at Shadow Creek, staying at Aria. It is an invitation-only event, including a Friday night party and a Saturday night Blackjack tournament with the visiting celebrities, and NOT something that I could have received from playing at RR, GVR, Stations, Orleans or M. It's just me, perhaps, but even a 25-coin flush will not spoil my good time.
