Nice read, I go to Tunica some.  Roadhouse is some nice paytables but I never win there.  The Grand (as I still call it also) is usually pretty good to me.  Did you stay for the Saturday night 1 Million Dollar drawing?

The Roadhouse no longer have those same paytables, a feww weeks ago they took the low road. I liked playing TDB but they dropped the 98.15% down to 98.97%, not much reason for me to go there anymore.

I'm guessing the latter one is a typo? they had 99.58% (9/7) before the downgrade. I assume it's down to at least 9/6 now (98.15%). I hope you don't mean all the way down to 8/5 TDB (95.97%), that would be a huge joke.

I didn't check anything but $1 and $2 denomination TDB and it was 8/5, not sure about the quarters and lower but I did hear and man and his wife complaining about the paytables on the lower denominations. I wasn't in there long and don't plan to return unless they bring the paytables back up which is not very likely. Along with the lower paytables they dropped a lot of games from the menu. I was told by a casino host a while back that a lot of times when you see the paytables dropped on vp you can just about bet the slots were adjusted also. Tunica's not drawing near the crowd they used to and it's like a ghost town during weekdays. Roadhouse has never really drew much of a crowd but dropping paytables will only chase more players away. The Fitz actually raised their paytables on $1 and $2 denomination DDB from 96.79% to 98.98% so I've been playing more there now.

we arrived late saturday night, i think they had just had the drawing for the million, we werent sure what was going on. i guess all three properties were tied in via camera or something...

but yes, tunica was a ghost town after saturday night. sunday it was noticeably empty and by monday it was desolate. we stayed until thursday.

i have been going to tunica since it opened in the mid 90's (at least once a year with the exception of the last 3 years) and i have never seen it so bad / empty. the slots, vp and even the poker rooms (those that are still in business) were virtually empty...

Yeah, definitely possible. I noticed on my last trip to Tunica that the Roadhouse had a lot more slots by WMS. They are known to have some of the lowest payback settings available for a major slot manufacturer.

It's a real shame. But I'll probably still give them some revenue by staying in their hotel in the future. I like having a whirlpool tub in my room.

I've been going to Tunica since they opened up Splash Casino so I've witnessed firsthand the rise and fall of Tunica area casinos. In my opinion  the casinos are getting exactly what they deserve, a big drop in revenue and attendence caused by ignorance and greed on their part. I think the decline started shortly after Harrah's bought out the Grand Casino (best casino I have ever played in), it was tough to even get a seat to play $1 vp back then and the slots were great, jackpots everywhere and people weren't scared to play. The first thing Harrah's did was replace all the vp machines and many slots, the first thing vp players started to notice was the royal flushes quit coming, a couple I knew very well played at The Grand all the time and together they hit 52 $1 denom royals the last year the Grand was still opened. Their first year playing at Harrahs on the new machines they hit 2, in 10 years of vp play at Harrahs I hit 2 royals. I started playing at another casino in a different state and played about the same amount of vp and hit 5 my first year playing there. It was pretty much the same story with slots, it just got to tough to play there on a consistant basis because the price of play went up. The ghost town you see now didn't happen overnight, it took a lot of hard work to mess things up so bad but they did a pretty decent job.
