Re: Blasted my host (in the nicest kind of way)
Thanks for all the great responses. Seems I am not alone. I'm also suprised at the high changover that everyone is reporting with their hosts. I thought I was the only one. 3 hosts in 3 years. So I got a response to my 500 word essey. "Wow... Thanks . I would the opportunity to sit and break
break with you. We never want to upset and make a player work while he or she
is here. I welcome the time that we can connect and chat. Have a great weekend sir
Sent from my iPhone"No, you didn't read it wrong, he forgot entire words in his reply. The world has turned into a smartphone nightmare of illerate idiots that don't place any respect on the spoken or typed word. To them communication has no place in the hospitality business whatsoever. To me, it's half the battle. I may be alone. But in any event, I'll go and meet with him just to close the loop and confront that uncomfortable feeling face to face. Then I'll ask for 800 dollars in free play every time they make a mistake. That might finally get my point across. And if it doesn't, I'll up it to 1,600. That's my version of "Send from my iPhone" Roveer

Well, I realize I am a new poster here, but hoping to hear some response to my question in my first post in this thread. It' s okay, I'll ask it again.
How do you all interact with your hosts? Is it usually by phone call or email prior to an upcoming visit? Do you meet with that host again once you are on property? Do you visit with them at departure?
I ask because the sense I am getting from above posts is that your hosts are the common enemy, or in an adversarial relationship with you all.
Or, that your interactions are typically negative experiences.
Just curious, how would you all characterize your host, if not adversarial or incompetent?

For the most part my wife and I communicate and follow up using e-mail prior to each visit. When we go to either Tahoe or Bossier City we typically interact with our hosts in person two or three times during our visit because we like them and for the most part we feel that they try to take care of stuff for us. In Atlantic City, New Orleans, Vegas, or Laughlin we rarely see a host. If we need something we usually call or go to one of the VIP areas and talk to a host on duty.
We do not dislike any of the hosts but we do get frustrated when are expectations are not met or if we ask for something simple and they hem haw around instead of taking care of business.

Thanks chattycattty. It sounds like you have one specific host at Tahoe or Bossier, but not a specific one at any of the other CET properties?
If this is true, is this a standard rule in how CET operates?
I guess I am genuinely puzzled by how the hosts situation works at CET.

We have a hospitality host and a executive host at Tahoe and an executive host at Bossier. They are attentive for the most part and we could use them at the other CET trips we take but we prefer dealing with the other properties directly.
At Atlantic City we were assigned a host when we went there for the first time last May. We played hard. Not at wild banshee level like Roveer or Billyjoe but we earned over 20,000 tc's on a four day trip. We made a small profit had a great time and immediately planned another trip. When we returned the following September, our host was supposed to have a suite for us in the Ocean Tower at Caesar's. We had a suite the first time in the Ocean Tower but this one was supposed to be at the end of the hall, with plate glass windows, on a high floor, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We were very specific with her.
We were assured there would not be a problem. Since we were coming in in a Saturday night we were told that worse case scenario we might have to spend the first night in one room and be willing to move to the premium room we requested for nights 2-4. We were okay with that.
When we got there they told us our room was not ready so they checked us into a room in the Centurion tower. We were expecting to move to our oceanfront suite sometime the following day. To make a long story short it did not happen. Left email messages with host. Spoke to hosts on duty. We did not press the issue as hard as we normally would b/c we had brought another couple with us on this trip.
Finally on the next to last day of our trip we get a call from our host apologizing, offering to move us, not knowing how this could have happened, etc. etc. By then we only had one night left and wife had everything out of suitcases and it would have been a lot of trouble to move.
Even though we enjoyed both of our trips to Atlantic City last year, next time we go back we will not be using this host. It is not that we don't like her. It is just that she is either lazy or inefficient or both.

To shed light on big business,Today they all give that line they care about customers, which is BS in most cases. Today I cancelled my direct TV account,I have been with them since 2004 and I was one of there best customers, which they would tell me every time I called in.Today I cancelled my account, many problems with bad weather, neighbors have very tall trees blocking my line of site for my 2 dishes.I had Direct TV because they had the Sunday NFL ticket and no else does. When I called they asked if I got a discount would I stay on and my answer was no.I saidwhy did you not offer me a discount before I call to cancelled. This is how these companies operate today. I was spending about 2400 per year and that did not include internet which was another 75 per month. Now I will paying about 145 dollars a month for cable and turbo internet. They only care about there bottomline.

Chattycattty, Your experience with the AC host is disappointing because if 7 Stars don't receive the very best possible care, then what sort of treatment can others at lower tier levels expect?
So, does CET routinely assign you a host at each property you visit, or do you have to proactively ask for a host at each property outside of your "Home" property (i.e. Tahoe or Bossier)?

roveer, that letter you wrote was extremely well worded and thought out, and you nailed exactly what players expect....I liked the part of "this is a time for me to relax, not continue 'working' for the right room, etc."Since you are in AC, I am sure you know that Borgata is the creme of the crap, er, I mean crop. I do not personally play there that often in terms of video poker, but I play almost ALL my live Poker (n/l hold em) there and I now have my first comped "poker room" stay coming up on May 11-13 at Borgata (if you log so many hours at their poker tables cash games you earn points and comps just like slots....not gonna get you a top tier but it will earn you the basics like rooms and food, which is all I ever cared about)Borgata consistently ranks highest in everything at AC so its pretty obvious if you put your action with them you will have a good time....and here's something else I just found out. Boyd gaming owns borgata and if you talk with their management, they can arrange for you to have the same standing at Boyd properties in Vegas, thus partially eliminating the common reason people stick with 7 stars CET that they like the options it gives them in Vegas. something to think about......As time goes on and my freebies fizzle and die at the other AC properties as I withdraw my video poker play from them, I will eventually start playing VP at Borgata when it makes sense to do so and when I have the time away from the poker torunaments and games. In fact, based on my last trip where I lost almost 1200 bucks simply playing 99% games like 8/5 BP and 9/6 job progressives at resorts and taj and caesars, I might just flat out abort no matter what offers those other proerties make next month. My only problem with Brorgata (and harrahs AC) is their location on the marina....I do not like the marooned effect such properties sometimes yield, especially in bad weather/wintertime.

Roveer, ummmm, you misspelled illiterate. But I share your concern for the rapidly disappearing respect for the spoken or written word. Texting and e-mailing and social media have wiped out the English language. Within a few generations 1st grade teachers will be teaching their students to spell the word "you" as "u".

Overall they take pretty good care of the 7 star players its just that at times they do stupid things to aggravate the c**p out of us. Overall, the benefits outweigh the disappointments so until something better comes along I will continue to play exclusively at CET.
In regards to hosts, once you reach a certain level of play they are assigned to you. When we travel outside our home property we have found that they have assigned a host to us as well.
