Re: Golden Nugget Las Vegas circa 1998
This was the first trip ever to win nothing at quarters... and I mean nothing. We only make it over once or twice a year. We were comped the rooms some free play a meal etc but it just did not feel anywhere close to our previous visits over all. That along with getting our butts kicked and talking to others having similar experiences made the choice. The Peppermill always got us to come back with more than fair pay tables---the service and way they treated you like they wanted your business sold us. They were more than willing to compete for our play. We pretty much plan on just doing Vegas once a year for awhile. We go to the area for something else anyway.
We usually can at least play for awhile even when we have losing sessions or trips...we got almost zero action for the money in comparison to ANY vp I have ever played minus the local native American casino. We did not even hit cash out!! One trip of bad gaming plus not so good service will do....I don't complain, I take my business where they treat me right and give value.

Was in Reno last few days and they have a bank of single line 25c machines at the Peppermill that have the royal at $1199. Not a progressive (says special promotion). DDB was 9/6 even. Played two and a half days on them and other single line 25c machines $1100 invested and got blanked!!!! Between me and my spouse we had a grand total of two 4OAK....I was dealt quad 10's, she drew to quad jacks off a pair. Two 4OAK with all that invested just finished off that casino for me forever, I will never go back. Strange thing was we both had plenty of straights, 3OAK, full houses...and hit flushes at a rate I have NEVER seen before. It was like they could turn off all the hands above full houses. I think we missed at least 150-250 plus draws dealt 3OAK at quads to hit zero!!!! Plinking at 3 line 5c the next morning before we left she hits a royal with 28 nickels in....and between us we hit 9 4OAK!!! Hard not to think something was not up BUT I will just visit another place rather than go back.Damn that's bad. I get peeved if I dont hit 8-10 4oaks in a 3 hour period. Every once in a while I go on a bad streak but I still hit a few hands. For those that like to play 9/6 DDB with a 1199 royal, I believe jokers wild on boulder highway still has a bank of 10. From what I saw in the past it was pretty difficult to hit anything on that bank.

I think its pretty obvious that there are VP machines out there (of all types and all denominations) that are rigged, at least for short periods of time, and then reset back properly once the casino milks a certain number of people (or they get wind of a possible inspection.)We all know it happens at least once in a while and these types of sessions prove it....our cognitive dissonance and our fear of embarrassment at being suckered convince us that when we hit a clearly horrible machine that it can only be "bad luck" or "randomness"......we just refuse to believe that VP could possibly be rigged, even just a few machines....a couple.....because that would mean we would be total suckers for even playing, let alone playing as long or as much as we do.Somewhere, at sometime, in the USA there IS a Video Poker machine being played that is set to NOT payout anything close to what it should payout if it were set properly....in other words, RIGGED. Somewhere, some player is getting the shaft. We all know it.......pokerforme happened to be a victim when he went to Peppermill.

There's that R word again. DaBurglar please...lighten up. Stop into Tennessee Ave for your monthly visit; they'll see you coming up and when you go to open the door it will mysteriously be locked and a sign will be on the door saying: "Left to check on a rigged video poker machine, back in 15 minutes." I was going to say that the sign read: "Left to go pick up our bribes from the casinos, back in 30 minutes." What stopped me was that I suddenly got the chills just thinking about how far you'd run with that.

I knew you'd jump all over it so I posted a stream of consciousness rant about rigged machines......pokerforme WANTS to say he thinks the machines were rigged but hasnt quite gotten to that point yet....I am helping him out.I am also just posting so that I can get you to IMMEDIATELY post something totally meaningless and irrelevant (with your usual snottiness and hostility) so that it becomes easier for the powers that be to see you need to be silenced, at least for a while.Just keep going Ted.

I posted that I got blanked and will not play there again....a good idea? I have done well above and beyond the expected return lifetime and even in 2014. Getting blanked and bad service/treatment were enough to keep me from going back. I do have to agree that a "pay schedule" is not what you will always find when playing VP. I hit a royal on a 98% machine in Vegas just a few weeks ago with several other great hits at other casinos with even uglier pay schedules....only to go to Reno and get my butt kicked playing a good pay schedule. As a side note I think all of these new computer "connected" machines including slots have some kind of controls built in that are accessible to someone in a booth somewhere.....guess I need a tin foil hat!

Gale the tin foil hat reference ties in with conspiracy theorists. The tin foil hat is used to limit the little green men, or the men in black, from reading your brainwaves or putting thoughts into your head.

I can't remember who but didn't someone here once hit a royal while playing at a gas station in Las Vegas?
Getting back ON TOPIC, I do not remember those specific stats whether it was the progressive payouts at the Golden Nugget(GN) or who played in the 2002 Super Bowl. I do remember one Super Bowl though in which the Chicago Bears decimated the New England Patriots. The Patriots were really crushed by those barbarian thugs.
I hit a royal on dollars at a 7-11. I did post a pic of it.
