Re: Got Dealt a Royal Flush!
Today, while playing the monthly contest, I was dealt a royal!

Congrats to you OMT on experiencing that!
Did that put you in the top 10 leader board position to hopefully net you a prize?

Not even close! Starting play today, I was in approximately 980th place. After the good session, I improved to about 170th. Now I'm in the mid 200s.
My play results prior to the royal were an example of how truly bad video poker can be. Playing exclusively full pay deuces wild, a 100.76% game, I was at a return of about 88%. If I had been playing single line 25c deuces wild in a casino with similar results, I would have been down about $1000 for 6 or 7 hours play.

As others have pointed out in other threads, a game return is not a guarantee, it is a long term statistical prediction.
That said, I am pretty sure that if someone did a probability of results curve for 7000 hands of full pay deuces wild, 88% return would be at the far, far left of the curve (the bad end).

No guarantees of course, just amused by the contrast.

I forgot to think that monthly contest is more fair than the daily/weekly formats where players are rewarded for dealt Royal Flush and/or Aces with a Kicker. It would probably take multiple jackpot hands to be on the leaderboard at the end.
Outside the dealt Royal Flush, you are indeed running terrible if it is at 88% return, under quad deuce/wild royal/5 of a kind cycles.
At a casino, I hope.
Sure. I don't count this website or anything that happens on training software. As a matter of fact, I can't seem to hit anything on this website. Maybe it's based in AC?
