I also give a flat tip of $40 on hand pays. I recently hit 4 deuces for 5k and gave $40. The slot girls/guys run get the money, come back and count it out. I feel a $40 tip is more than generous for the amount of work they have to do to pay me off.

But did you tip for hopper fills? Man I'm glad those days are over! It always seemed to take an eternity. Long live TITO!

I tip everybody in a casino.  These people are working hard for a living and I'm sitting on my butt giving my money away.  People who don't tip don't value others and don't remember when they were in the same position.  Besides, it's good business to tip.  You never know when you might need something a little extra.  Try it, it works. The idea that Bob Dancer doesn't tip is inaccurate.  His books are full of stories about gifts and nice things he has done for slots hosts and managers.  He's no dummy and I'll bet he tips a bunch.  Maybe by not handing someone a few bucks for a drink, but he does none-the-less.

If this is true, then I formally acknowledge it and state I am wrong.......but someone out there knows of what I am talking about in that, some time back, there was a point  made in a post about some aspect of In House service in typical casinos and BOB did make the point in several ways that he does NOT tip for it........Drinks I am certain was one of said "Aspects" of service.......and I could have sworn handpays also came up.... The typical emphatic conviction & attitude with which bob usually expressed such thoughts made it stick in my mind up to now......

I tip $20 for $2000, $40 for $4000, $50 for $5000 and so on. However, $100 is my top tip. I have hit several $5 royals and the attendant was thrilled with a $100 tip. Now, mind you, if I feel like the service is slow and the attendant played a role in the slow service, then I might reduce the tip. Does a tip improve service? You betcha! Once they know that I tip, the attendants actually prowl my row of machines, watching to see if I'm going to hit another one. Very prompt service after the first nice tip of the session. (If it is slow service due to a crowded casino and many handpays at the same time, I try to be understanding, but on the other hand I would expect them to come take care of me before they go to serve a non-tipper or low-tipper.)

I try to be on a first name basis with the servers.  I like to play real early in the morning, so this isn't too hard.  A $5 tip gets things moving in my direction.  I enjoy talking with most of them.  They're usually nice girls going to school or supporting some kids.  I regularly tip hand pay people $20-$50 each.  I have only tipped $100 once when a slot manager walked me over to a particular machine where I promptly hit a $4K royal.  That made both of us smile.

The serendipity tip? I guess that merits a fifty, but $100 for a Random Walk as they say in finance, is High Roller style to a tee. It's not like the guy had inside information that a gusher was brewing. Or is it?

This happened back in 2008 when I hit four royals in one day.  I know it's crazy, but it happened.   I've hit two in one day since then, but that was the best VP day of my life so far.

Locally we only have drink machines but in Vegas I tip servers a minimum of $5. Since we have stayed at Mandalay Bay almost exclusively for 8 years several have become my friends, we chat about life, kids etc. and they always bring me Figi water, usually 2 bottles. If I hit a jackpot they get $20 and once where I also had multiple pays in one day, I tipped $100. When you tip and are friendly you will not wait for a drink - ever. I can blow that $5 in one hand but she can use it for her child's lunch the next day. At VIP check-in I normally tip $20 unless it's my favorite person and she gets $40 and the Limo driver gets between $40 & $50 if it's just my husband and I but if we're a group of gals going out we each put in $20. I also leave $20 for housekeeping each day and $40 if it's a 2 bedroom suite. Of course I couldn't do that if I went every week but going a few times a year it's just part of the expense of the trip. I also send my host an electronic gift card after we are home and that amount is determined by how much work he had to do for us. I'm definitely not a high roller but I stay up there with them in a penthouse suite. Being loyal, friendly and appreciating all those that provide exceptional services get you lots of perks.
