Re: It's Lonely At The Top
"dancer" made most of his money from selling his flash cards books etc. not from playing that's a big reason the vp scene is so void of positive plays. Gary Loveman ceo of caesars followed up on a massive downgrading the games and everyone followed. skilled players evolve or find other beatable games

[/quote]Bob Dancer gets too much credit for killing video poker odds. If Bob Dancer hadn't let the cat out of the bag, someone else would have. He is a smart businessman that saw an opportunity and acted upon it. I wouldn't give you two cents for his current prospects as a video poker professional, but I would love to have his book and software royalties.

Do any of you folks think you could top Mr Dancer in a skills contest?
Let's say you pick a mutually agreed upon game and I present you with 1,000 hands. Forget results, do any of you think you would make the correct draws at his pace or better?

I believe Bob's skills are as good as they ever were. It's the lack of opportunities that's the problem.

I don't think I could top Mr. Dancer in a skills contest but I feel certain I could play the hands correctly just as fast as he does as long as we were playing DDB poker, it's not rocket science. Years ago I bought a program and spent my share of time learning all the correct holds for DDB and TDB. There's no doubt in my mind that Mr. Dancer could provide me with some very good advice as to how and when I should play because I just play when I get the urge.

I wouldn't worry so much and blaming bob is like blaming Ralph Nader during the bush/gore election being the reason gore lost...poppycock!
I don't worry because when I go to the casino and play video poker; whether they are playing good or bad pay tables, maybe one in a hundred seem to give a darn and play optimum strategy. In other words, whether the game is over or under 100% payback, casinos are doing just dandy!
If bob is doing anything, he is bringing more players into the fold which is only a plus for everybody. Stop giving him so much credit peeps...other factors at play for sure.

Good to see you around mickey. This is tringlomane from WoV. FYI, Bob is on an extended break here if you didn't know. And WoV is going downhill too, a lot of the "knowledgeable" posters have given up there or post much more sporadically, including myself. And KewlJ got nuked recently too...real shame.
And "loose lips sink ships" or something like that, right? Hey, tring. Good to hear from you. And thanks to all for the kind words. I've gotten the same shellacking from the loose lips crowd that Dancer gets. I've also been called a fraud many times just like him. It goes with the territory. In the "Getting Back Off/86'd" thread at WoV, Paigowdan, an AP hater argues vociferously that AP's "drive up the cost of providing gaming services to the public." As an industry insider he knows this from experience. The AP's in the thread gang up and gives rebuttals to his argument. Then a newbie jumps in the thread and goes on about how AP's are frauds that don't really make any money in the casinos. So the AP's in the thread not only have to defend their positions against Paigowdan, they have to put up with being called frauds by a non-believer. This is what I find hilarious. It's all part of being famous like Dancer. No matter what you do there are going to be those who don't like you. And it comes from both sides.

The thinner your skin and the bigger your ego, the more it seems like others are jerks. Just sayin'!
