Okay, time for my complete report.

First, I had a great great time. It was so fun to see everything and to finally play for real. I stayed up very late and got up early to try to make the most of it, but listen... one day just isn't enough time to see Vegas and it isn’t even enough time to put in playing video poker. I am going to have to go back with the family, maybe in the spring, and make sure I have more time. The lights, the people, the bazillions of games… hoochie mama was it exciting!

If I had to pick a favorite thing, it was probably the first moment walking onto a huge casino floor and just looking around at all the people, all the different games, all the sounds… there was so much more out there than I imagined! Second best would be going to the bathroom and having a Klingon tell me a urine analysis. That was… interesting.

So, now for my gameplay report.

It really was crazy. I knew going in that my plan to double or lose didn’t have a very good chance of winning.  What surprised me was how long it would take to go through that $500 one way or another.

I already said how the first $100 went, which was pretty fast on Super Times Pay. After Shadowman and Ansoda were gone, I got something to eat and started playing more.

My second round took longer since I was playing mostly single line. After dinner I was playing much better and fast like I do on here.  Early I was going very slow, looking at the cards and trying no to make mistakes and just get used to it. But finally I got into a rhythm and was going faster and more on the instincts I’ve picked up with so many hours on VPW and here on the site. That is when it really started getting fun.

I jumped around from game to game a lot more than I thought and did end up playing at other places besides the Hilton since I wanted to spread it out a little. I played only Deuces the entire time, never anything else.  But I hopped from single to triple and sometimes Super Times Pay again with multiple lines. It was a lot of fun. But that was mostly later. I did spent most of the time after midnight back at my hotel to get the rest of my play in. But that is ahead of myself.

So when the second round was used up I was down $200. But it was the third round that really took a long long time. I was still playing mostly single hand and got up a little, down a little, on and on and on. This took maybe 2 hours and it was already getting late.

From my original $500 I think I was only ahead a few times really since I dropped down early. But it was on the last couple hundred that things really got crazy.

It was really late.  I don’t know what time but I was very tired.  I knew that if the next rounds took as long as the third I would never finish, so unfortunately I had to break from my game plan of slow and steady if I was going to go broke or win over $1,000 before the sun came up.  I moved back to the Super Times machine and had some good hits, but never the 4 deuces or royal that would be needed to push me over the top. I reached $750 at one point I think. As shadowman pointed out, deuces is a tough game to double on using my plan because there aren’t many big hitters like in DB and DDB. It would really take 4 deuces multiple times or a royal. The multipliers were really coming strong, unlike earlier in the day.

In my entire time there, I never hit 4 deuces or a royal (except royal with wilds of course).

I was dealt 3 deuces only 3 different times and one was on 5 line STP with a 5x multiplier! The best I came away with on those was a royal with deuces and it was on 2 of the 5 lines for about $310. That was great but boy did I want to see just one more deuce!!!!!!!!!!  AAaaaa! That would have been what I needed, so I was THAT close.

Another crazy part is that I really might have ended a lot sooner than I did.  I got down to my last 5 credits no less than 3 separate times, betting my last 5 on single line. The machines weren’t going to let me double but they also didn’t want me to stop playing.  It was so late and really I was ready to stop so I was just playing down to the last bit to go up to the room. The first time I hit zero, I kept coming up with 3-of-a-kinds, maybe 5 in a row to stay alive back to $1.25, then hit a royal with deuces to buy just a bit more time. It was worked up to a little over $30 then scooted over to Super Times Pay 3 line on dimes, just to not lose it too too fast. Only 2 hands in I pushed it up to $80 or so and then went back to the quarter machine on STP. I really was done playing, so I made it 10 line. Well, I hit for $250 and was really mad because now I had to stay up even later!

I kept on STP but only playing 3 lines.  If I hit something to put me up a ways I would play 3 hands on 5 line then go back to 3. I liked doing it that way to give me at least a better chance at reaching my goal if I was to get a bigger hit.

Once again, worked my way on back down to the dreaded $1.25 switching back to single line on my last $20 or so to see if I could win my way back in.

First shot on my next “final” bet I was back up to $20 or so, moved back to STP again and darn it I was back around $350 within a few minutes. I couldn’t believe how many multipliers were coming. I actually was getting hopefully again after giving up a couple times and now I was back where I was some 12 hours earlier! That was very exciting but I was realizing that this may never end!

I stayed on bigger bets the same way and somehow finally ran out for the night. I wasn’t going to reach my goal but I had a lot of fun and was ready for bed.

So I was done.  I thought.  I got up in the morning and had to go to the airport but I had an extra half hour.  I remembered I had $11 on my hotel players card which I was going to leave on for my next trip but I thought why not and cashed it in for a last bit of play before leaving. I have a little on other cards but will save those.

No joke, I turned my $11 into $150 very fast.  First into $30 and then went BACK to STP 3 line since I was in a big hurry and hit 2 wild royals at once.

Now, on any other trip I would have cashed out and headed for the airport.  It was a really good feeling to turn my $11 players card into $150. But I meant it when I said I would come home with double or nothing.  I was already late so I threw out the hail mary pass on 10 play several times but did not hit. After playing it down, I left a quarter in the machine for the next lucky person to stop by.

So there you have it. It was so much fun!  My only regret is not having more time and having to break from my game plan. Maybe if I could have played more time on single line that would have given me more chances at a royal but I would have needed extra days to do that if I had similar hits.  Of course, the time on STP was also very fun and hitting on those multipliers was a great rush so I am still glad I did it. And I came so close!

I do not think the double or nothing is a good way to go, at least not in Deuces on this timeframe. I knew that ahead of time but just wanted the excitement for my first trip.  I would revise that next time and be a little smarter in some ways but boy was it fun!

Thank you for reading this and thank you ALL for all the help in learning this game leading up to this trip! It really was an exciting moment for me and I am glad I could make it last as long as it did in the short time I was there. It was fun, I had my chances, and as the Eduardonator says… I’ll be BACK!

Sure a lot to take in in Vegas isn't there Eduardo?  Certainly not in a couple of days.  Not in a week.  In fact, not in 14 weeks!  Even if you've been EVERYWHERE and done EVERYTHING, the next time you go out, something will have changed!  Nothing ever stays the same in Las Vegas! As for the games...you knew what you were doing and now that you've experienced it, you can give it thought with some memories of actual play and develop a game plan that will suit your budget, time available and personality.  No two people are going to do it the same way.  Next time out, you'll want to think about hitting Fremont St.  It's a completely different atmosphere.  After that, it's the outlying locals casinos like Fiesta Henderson, Texas Station and Silverton and all the others.  Each has it's own thing going on.

You're now a veteran, Eduardo.  Not so much for the trip itself, but for all the woulda-coulda-shoulda whining.
Doesn't sound like you did much Vegas exploring.  It is almost as much fun as the play itself.  Disneyland for grownups.

Yes, briefly. But if I ever have a 1 night trip again I'll pass on the hotel room and just drink a little more coffee all night instead. I slept better on the plane ride home.

PS someone needs to do a better job explaining the RNG to the masses. Several girls kept asking me if I wanted to get lucky and I had to explain to them that it takes a series of random events, not a choice. It got very frustrating after a while because they obviously didn't get it.

No, I didn't get around nearly as much as I thought I would. First because the strip is way way bigger than I thought. What a walk!

Second, once I realized how little time I had and how fast the night was going, I figured I was better saving some of the best stuff for when I go back with the family so everyone can see it at the same time with more time to explore.

No, I am not addicted. If I said I was, it would be the first step toward recovery and I don't want that!
